Emine Ibrahim Seeking nomination in the North and East CLPs Division in the Boroughs of Haringey; Redbridge; Hackney; Havering; Barking and Dagenham; Enfield; Waltham Forest and Newham

I am proud to stand as a socialist in the Labour Party to represent ALL party members across North and East London. There are many things most ordinary party members agree on and one of them is the need to fight for a transparent, accountable and democratic party. The current direction of our party is one that is committed to anti austerity and I am committed to this new approach. However only with the engagement of ordinary party members and activists can we deliver a new radical Labour government as well as making further strides for Labour in Local Government I am unashamedly in support of a radical future for our party because I believe that Labour does best when the very people we seek to represent feel that we are fighting their corner.

My main priority over the last two years on regional board has been fighting for a democratic London Labour Party and I would like to continue to speak up for ordinary members who often feel that the regional structures of the party are remote. Over the last year our party has grown at astonishing speed particularly in North and East London. Lots of those new members have faced challenges in understanding how our party structures work. My own CLP has grown to over 4800 members. Now that the party meetings have resumed I would like to help organise all member meetings across North and East London for new members with CLP Officers in order to engage new members and provide a starting point in understanding the party structures.

I will speak up for local activists who want to see a party that is;

• Transparent, accountable and democratic; • Listens to the voice of trade unions that represent the interests of workers our party was built to provide a voice for.

As a trade unionist and full time Branch Secretary / Labour Link Officer of Redbridge Unison Local Government Branch I am committed to providing a voice for workers hit the hardest by the cuts. I am also a Councillor for ward which is within constituency in the London Borough of Haringey. My typical day can consist of representing a Unison member in a school in Hainault then travelling across North East London on public transport to attend resident’s meetings on in Haringey or council meetings. This is the experience of lots of party activists whatever position they hold in party. Whether it’s a branch officer a Cllr or party members campaigning. I want our voices to be heard by full time party staff and MPs. I am active in my own CLP and have previously been the Branch Chair of Noel Park BLP, Vice Chair of and CLP and Fundraising officer while I was a member of Tottenham CLP.
