Airport Development Commission Meeting Minutes – May 1, 2012

Meeting Opened: 5:15 pm

Minutes: The minutes from the April 3, 2012 were adopted as presented.

Business Arising:

- Bill, Brad, Ed and Rick will represent the airport team in the Bearskin Charity Golf Tournament being held on June 21th.

Old Business:

- The Commission passed the Procedure By-Law and Purchasing and Procurement By-Law. “That By-Law No. ADC-01-12, being a by-law governing the calling, place and proceedings of the Sioux Lookout Airport Development Commission be read a first, second and third time and passed, and further, that by-law No. ADC-02-12, being a by-law to establish the purchasing and procurement procedures for the Sioux Lookout Airport Development Commission be read a first, second and third time and passed.”

- The Airport Manager discussed three options that were identified during the site visit with Keewatin Aski for the master drainage plan. Keewatin Aski are presently here shooting the elevations for this project.

The Commission approved a motion advising the Airport Manager to pursue the closed storm water option and obtain project and tender costs.

- ACAP funding for the plow truck has been approved. The tendering process will be advertised electronically through Merx or Bidingo and suppliers will be notified of this. We are looking at 14 weeks for delivery once the tendering process is complete.

- The strategic plan meeting will be postponed to a later date. The Airport Manager will contact the facilitator for available dates.

- Tenders will be put out for the terminal building expansion preliminary design & class ‘C’ costs by June. The stage 1 application has been approved and we need to submit terms of reference. The EDO will continue with the funding process.

New Business:

- The Airport Manager will contact a graphic designer to develop a new logo for the airport to put on promotional items. The new logo options will be brought back to the commission for approval and recommendation to Council.

- The EDO attended a multi-modal transportation meeting in Thunder Bay in reference to air, road, water, rail, and winter roads. Items of discussion were infrastructure deficit, aging infrastructure, lack of four lane highways and the cost of flying. Morgan Fuels, Bearskin and Wasaya would be encouraged to attend the next meeting.

Airport Managers Report Addition:

- Transport has stopped doing acceptance validation inspections and is now doing process validation inspections. SMS approval will now be done via an SMS assessment. Scheduling for assessment visits will commence March 2013.
