Kate Wetherhead (Deb) — Wetherhead Began Her Career In Kate Wetherhead (Deb) — Wetherhead began her career in children's theatre, appearing off-Broadway in Sarah, Plain and Tall, Tatjana in Color, Summer of the Swans, and Cam Jansen, as well as touring with A Christmas Carol. She made her Broadway debut in 2005 as the understudy for Olive Ostrovsky, Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, and Marcy Park in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She left the show to originate the roles of Kate and Chutney in the Broadway production of Legally Blonde. She left the show in 2008, performing regionally in such shows as Steel Magnolias (play) and Almost, Maine. In 2009 she starred as Deb in Ordinary Days by for Roundabout Theatre Company. In 2010, she met Andrew Keenan- Bolger in a regional production of It's a Bird... It's a Plane... It's Superman, and after collaborating on a behind-the-scenes video for the production, they decided to make a web series together. The two created the show “Submissions Only”, with Wetherhead writing and directing as well as playing the protagonist, Penny Reilly. In 2012, she returned to Off-Broadway in The Other Josh Cohen, for which she received a Drama Desk Award nomination. “Submissions Only” ended its third and final season in 2014. From 2013-2016, Kate and Andrew co- wrote the three-part children's book series Jack & Louisa, published by Penguin Group. The two also have a feature film in development with Sycamore Pictures. In 2018, Kate made her theatrical directorial debut at Bucks County Playhouse, directing Cinderella (musical) for the youth company. She has since directed Shrek The Musical (Jr.) for the playhouse, along with developmental readings and workshops for New York University and Michigan State University..

Hunter Foster played legendary music producer Sam Phillips in the original Broadway production, and has directed the show many times around the country. He’s assembled a terrific cast from those productions, including returning Playhouse artists James Ludwig (Ebenezer Scrooge’s Big Playhouse Christmas Show), Zach Cossman (Buddy) and Ryah Nixon (The Rocky Horror Show). We’re gearing up for our big fundraiser for the year, the fourth Galavant in the Garden, to be held at Barbara and Jay Belding’s beautiful home on Saturday, September 22. Speaking of rock and roll history, our headliner this year is none other than the original girl group star herself, Darlene Love. We first saw Darlene on Broadway in 1985’s Leader of the Pack, and her rendition of “River Deep, Mountain High” became an instant classic.

    BRAVO Wins Big at the Inaugural West Coast Junior Theater Festival Brooks middle school students BRAVO! program participated in the first ever Junior Theater Festival West in Sacramento, CA! This is BRAVO’s 9th year attending and performing in the festival and their first year going west. The Junior Theater Festival is the largest musical theater celebration in the country for young people that invite groups from all over the world to celebrate the transformative power of musical theater. Groups prepare 15 minutes of a piece from Music Theater International’s Broadway Junior collection to perform for a panel of Broadway adjudicators. For the 8th consecutive year, BRAVO earned the coveted award of Outstanding Production for their adaptation of Thoroughly Modern Millie! Five BRAVO students were awarded “All-Stars” for their performance on stage and off stage! McKale Thompson and Gabe Huang were selected as the All Star performers for “Millie” and three BRAVO crew students, Aidan Green, Emma Sculles, and Johnny McGillen, were selected as Technical Theater All Stars. The weekend is high octane with guest speakers, workshops, celebrity guests and BRAVO performances on the main stage prepared head to toe with dazzling costumes. The presentation of Mary Poppins during the New Works showcase Saturday evening was likened to “Broadway caliber!” The Memorial auditorium rang out with the most effervescent cheer and instantaneous standing ovation after the showstopping Supercalifgragilisticexpialodocious, the first of three numbers from Poppins. The auditorium was deafening after Step in Time with a second standing ovation. As the applause diminished, 8th grader Ella Renner (Mary Poppins) began singing “Anything Can Happen if You Let It”.
