3 Resolution honoring the 2002 National League San Francisco Giants for a season filled
4 with memories.

6 WHEREAS, The 2002 San Francisco Giants won the wildcard with a record of 95-66;
7 and 8 WHEREAS, The 2002 San Francisco Giants finished 3 and one half games ahead of
9 the Los Angeles Dodgers; and,
10 WHEREAS, The 2002 San Francisco Giants fought back from a 2 to 1 deficit to defeat
11 the Atlanta Braves and win the National League Division Series 3 games to 2; and,
12 WHEREAS, The 2002 San Francisco Giants thrilled us all with a 4 games to 1 victory
______13 over the St. Louis Cardinals to win the National League Championship; and,
14 <,.. WHEREAS, Dusty Baker led the San Francisco Giants for a 10th straight year with
15 unparalleled passion and consistency; and, 16 WHEREAS, Barry Bonds will win a record 5th National League Most Valuable Player
17 award; and,
18 WHEREAS, Benito Santiago represented the heart and soul of the Giants with his
19 physical toughness and clutch hitting now, therefore, be it
20 RESOLVED, That the City and County of San Francisco honors and thanks the 2002
21 San Francisco Giants for a year of baseball that we will never forget.
