We were honoured to have had the opportunity to participate and it has given us a new jumpstart for continuing our work with new energy here in the US to support the People’s War in Peru as a way of also serving the World Proletarian Revolution underway. It has been over two years since our last edition, during which time we have seen a greater necessity to publish our newsletter more regularly, as the revisionists and opportunists in the US have completely abandoned every last ounce of support for not only the People’s War in Peru, but even the revolutionary struggles in the world, including the popular struggle here in the US. We find the need to mention one of them by name at this time, since not only have they committed the above errors, but they have now sunk to an even lower level by joining up with one faction of the big imperialist bourgeoisie to “oppose” the other, while having the audacity to call themselves “Maoists”.

Indeed, the ultimate goal of this physiologic progression is to achieve ovulation and offer an adequate environment for the installation of gestation, the consummation of female fertility. Strict regulation of these processes is important, as disruptions at any point in this evolution may equate a myriad of endocrine- metabolic disturbances for women and adverse consequences on offspring both during pregnancy and postpartum.

In girls, menarche is a late marker of puberty. Primary amenorrhea is defined as the absence of menarche in ≥ 15-year-old females with developed secondary sexual characteristics and normal growth or in ≥13-year-old females without signs of pubertal development. Furthermore, evaluation for primary amenorrhea should be considered in the absence of menarche 3 years after thelarche (start of breast development) or 5 years after thelarche, if that occurred before the age of 10 years. A variety of disorders in the hypothalamus– pituitary–ovarian axis can lead to primary amenorrhea with delayed, arrested or normal pubertal development. Etiologies can be categorized as hypothalamic or pituitary disorders causing hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, gonadal disorders causing hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, disorders of other endocrine glands, and congenital utero–vaginal anomalies. This article gives a comprehensive review of the etiologies, diagnostics and management of primary amenorrhea from the perspective of pediatric endocrinologists and gynecologists.

LaCroix, PhD8 Abstract Objective: The aim of the present study was to investigate associations between reproductive factors and survival to age 90 years. Methods: This was a prospective study of postmenopausal women from the Women’s Health Initiative recruited from 1993 to 1998 and followed until the last outcomes evaluation on August 29, 2014. Participants included 16,251 women born on or before August 29, 1924 for whom survival to age 90 during follow-up was ascertained. Women were classified as having survived to age 90 (exceptional longevity) or died before age 90. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to evaluate associations of ages at menarche and menopause (natural or surgical) and reproductive lifespan with longevity, adjusting for demographic, lifestyle, and reproductive characteristics. Results: Participants were on average aged 74.7 years (range, 69-81 y) at baseline. Of 16,251 women, 8,892 (55%) survived to age 90. Women aged at least 12 years at menarche had modestly increased odds of longevity (odds ratio [OR], 1.09; 95% CI, 1.00-1.19).
