Write a Letter to the Editor Expressing Support For the Badger-Two Medicine Protection Act Thank you for writing a letter of support for the Badger-Two Medicine Protection Act. Your voice is immensely valuable to turning this vision into reality. These letters help others learn about the Act and demonstrate the public support necessary to move this legislation forward. Thank you for being a hero on behalf of our wildlife, water, and wildlands of the Badger-Two Medicine! What Should I Say? Letters should be addressed “Dear Editor” and include a clear statement of support for the Badger- Two Medicine Protection Act. Personal reasons you want to see the area protected are the most compelling content. Allowed length varies but is usually 200 – 250. Here’s a suggested format: • State your support for the Badger-Two Medicine Protection Act. • Share briefly who you are. Are you a hunter? A hiker? An artist? A teacher? • Share why the Badger-Two Medicine or public lands generally matter to you and why you want to see the place protected. Perhaps include an experience you had in the area. • Share something you like about the Act, such as: o Protects world class wildlife habitat for elk, moose, mule deer, big horn sheep… o Safeguards clean water, healthy rivers, and native trout o Completes protection for the majestic Rocky Mountain Front o Collaboratively built, keep it like it is proposal o Maintain public access for hunting, fishing, hiking, horse packing, skiing o Good for Montana’s recreational and tourism economy o Safeguards Blackfeet cultural resources, practices, and traditions o Provides Blackfeet a voice in management of their sacred lands o Passes Montana’s outdoor heritage on to the next generation • Ask Sen. Steve Daines to Co-sponsor the legislation and work with Sen. Tester to pass it. Submitting Letter to the Editor Letters must include your name, address, and daytime phone number (they don’t publish your contact information, just use it to verify you wrote the letter).
