2017 Annual Report

2017 YEAR IN REVIEW

2017 was a year of great opportunity and change. We began the year deciding how best to invest our $5 million grant to ensure the long term financial security of Hawthorne.

As the year progressed, impending personnel changes presented themselves. Our longtime Deputy Direc- tor, Betty Harris, resigned her position but agreed to remain part time in a different capacity.

The long time Executive Director, Diane Arnold, also announced her retirement to become effective at the end of the year.

Redistribution of responsibilities and search for a new Deputy Director challenged Hawthorne to value its history while understanding that change is often necessary.

A highly qualified individual, Elaine Dillahunt, was hired as Deputy Director. She came onboard ready to learn and demonstrate her leadership skills.

Late in the year, the Hawthorne Board of Directors selected Elaine Dillahunt to become the new Executive Director.

As we look forward to 2018 and beyond, we anticipate not only continuation of the high quality programs and services but growth, enhancement and new opportunities to serve our community.
