Pohick Episcopal Church Lorton, Virginia Position: Assistant to Priest in Charge

Pohick Episcopal Church, a joyful, warm, and vibrant program-size church in , is searching for an ordained Episcopal priest with a passion for evangelism, young adult/family ministry, and Christian formation. Ideally the Assistant will have at least two years of experience in a parish setting. Ordained seminary graduates demonstrating strong gifts in these areas may also be considered. Reporting to the Priest in Charge, the Assistant will participate equally in liturgy, preaching and teaching, and will be responsible for the following programs: Invite, Welcome, Connect (Evangelism/Newcomers Ministry); 20’s and 30s Ministry; Family Ministry; Alpha, and small groups. The Assistant will share equally in the Sunday and Wednesday worship rotas. The Assistant will also work with the Priest in Charge in strategic planning and innovative program development. Considered a “flagship” church in the Diocese of Virginia, the current Pohick Church was completed in 1774. (The original church building dated to 1732). The seat of Truro Parish, Pohick was the home church of the , and George Fairfax families, among other colonial leaders. Located a few miles from both and , we celebrate our historic roots and emphasize our contemporary, creative leadership and programs. With 550 members and an ASA of 240, Pohick is a welcoming and healthy faith community balanced in contemplation and action.
