  • Annur, a Village Which Plays Chef
A village which plays chef www.bekaltourism.com www.bekaltourism.com TAnnurhe vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes of north Kerala are world famous, and among them the most sought-after are the traditionally prepared vegetarian dishes of the village of Annur in north Malabar. Annur is situated in the small town of Payyanur in Kannur district. The cooks of the region are so talented that they can send foodies to peaks of gustatory delight with their indigenous methods of preparation. www.bekaltourism.com The most mouth-watering dish on offer at Annur is green gram pudding. The main ingredients are green gram, high quality jaggery and ghee [clarified butter]. The culinary artist works his ultimate magic when he adds dry ginger powder, cardamom powder and golden, ghee-roasted cashews. Unlike other parts of Kerala, Annur village does not add raisins in this pudding. This is to prevent the sourness of raisins to upset the delicate taste of the pudding as it cools. www.bekaltourism.com Koottu kari is a sure item in any traditional feast in north Malabar. Of all the varieties prepared across Kerala, the Annur version is easily the best. It is as though yam and raw banana, the chief vegetables used in Koottu kari, yield their special flavours only to the Annur chefs. Annur village in north Malabar waits patiently for connoisseurs who wander in search of dishes that will pamper their palates. Green gram pudding and Koottu kari are not the only items that woo such gustatory nomads. There is a mind-boggling variety that has the power to send every gourmet into a virtual journey of taste-experiences.

  • Kannur Municipal Corporation
September 27, 2017 Kannur Municipal Corporation Summary of Rated Instruments Instrument* Amount Rating Action (Rs. crore) Issuer Rating Nil IrBB+(Stable) ; Assigned *Instrument details are provided in Annexure-1 Rating action ICRA has assigned the long-term issuer rating of IrBB+ (pronounced I R double B plus) to the Kannur Municipal Corporation (KMC/municipality).1 The outlook assigned to the long-term rating is Stable. Rationale The assigned rating takes into consideration the importance of the KMC as the sole agency responsible for providing civic services in Kannur city and stable transfers from the State Government of Kerala (GoK). The rating is also supported by the revenue surplus position of the corporation in the recent years and the KMC’s above average service standards especially in solid waste management and surfaced road network. The rating, however, is constrained by the limited revenue base of the KMC at present, growth of which is negligible and a significant increase in the services area of the corporation. The rating is also impacted by the risk associated with the execution of large projects under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), given the KMC’s lack of track record in handling such projects in the past. Nevertheless, ICRA believes that the KMC will derive support from the GoK for funding the projects and for capacity-building of the municipal staff. This is likely to mitigate the risks related to execution of any large projects. Key rating drivers and description Credit strengths Importance of the corporation to the state government: The KMC provides basic civic services in Kannur city, which also serves as headquarter for Kannur district.

Biodiversity is the most significant of the resources available to man (Pushpangadan, 1999). Biodiversity encompasses the limitless array of organisms from microbes to large life forms. We owe our achievements for the past 500 years to biodiversity. Tropical regions where light and water are available in plenty are the abodes of biodiversity.
