Julia Shearsby & Katie Wilson you are our pot of gold!

We thank you for your organisation, commitment, hardwork and stamina in making Hastings Hullabaloo 2019 an outstanding success and a new Hullabaloo record!

I would like to give a very big thank you to our Fete organisers, Julia Shearsby and Katie Wilson. Our Hastings Hullabaloo was an absolute success with the entire community joining in their efforts to support our school. This was a huge amount of work to organise, gain support for and to pull off on the day.

A big Thank You also to the productive team of volunteers who contributed in the lead up to the event and on the day. The Hastings Hullabaloo was a great success because of the contribution of every single one of you – students, staff, parents & friends!

P&C would love your feedback. Please take a couple of minutes to complete their survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QTXN86H The survey is anonymous.

INTERNATIONAL Report by Stephanie Dun Last Thursday seven students flew to Hobart for the HONOURS! International Finals of Tournament of Minds. The next day, Friday, we were bussed to Hobart Town Hall for the Opening Ceremony which included an engaging “Welcome to Country” and the introduction of the teams. Afterwards we were bussed to Richmond Historic Village where we saw many historical icons, including a lolly shop!

After our time at Richmond we headed off to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary where we saw many animals including wombats and a Tasmanian Devil.

Saturday was competition day at the University of Tasmania for our three hour lockdown preparation. During this time we had to make something that would let a ping pong ball (a living organism) down a metal frame in as close to 20 seconds as possible.

After our performance we were taken to the Derwent Entertainment Centre for the presentation. The event was very entertaining and everyone was very encouraging. Our team, myself, Jamie Knott, Tim Lawrance, Drew de Silva, Benjamin Grummitt, Frida Aaso and Addison Lunn received Honours (which is like coming 2nd). A massive achievement!

Following the presentation we went back to our accommodation where everyone had heaps of fun, playing games, including the Stair Sliding Olympics!

We would like to thank everyone who supported our fundraising events and activities to help us get to Hobart.

CHICKEN POX We have a confirmed case of an immunised child having Chicken Pox. The incubation period is 14-21 days so if your child shows flu like symptoms in the next couple of weeks please check for spots! Students with chicken pox are excluded from school until they are fully recovered or at least 5 days after the eruption first appears.

INTENSIVE SWIMMING SCHEME Nine (9) places are still available for the Year 2 Intensive Swimming Scheme which starts on Monday, 11th November. This is a 10 consecutive days program which runs regardless of the weather (with the exception of electrical storms). Cost is $60.00 per student and includes bus fare, pool entry and professional tuition. If your Year 2 child is a non or poor swimmer we highly recommend this program. If you have lost your forms please contact the office for another copy.

MONEY! We advise parents it is becoming more and more difficult to change larger denomination notes into smaller notes and coins to be shared with siblings. The office and canteen do not keep money onsite overnight and with the increasing popularity of becoming a cashless society, change is not always available.
