This presentation will discuss updates to the nurse licensure and any legislation affecting nurs- ing and the nursing practice.

The session will define self-care, discuss the importance of self care in order to care for others, and describe how to set personal and professional goals.

11:00 a.m. Nursing the Nurse Trenda Ray, PhD, RN, Associate Vice Chancellor and CNO, UAMS Medical Center, Little Rock

This presentation will describe the components of a monthly nurse retreat and why this is important, as well as UAMS’ findings from holding nurse retreats with UAMS Health Nurses.

FACULTY

Erin Bolton, RN, BSN, CPHQ, is the director of quality and regulatory at Jefferson Regional. She received the phone call on March 11, 2020 notifying Jefferson Regional that they had the first confirmed COVID patient in the state of Arkan- sas. As well as serving on the COVID Command Center team, Erin has spearheaded the hospital’s community vaccine effort.

Natalie Cannady, MEd, has worked in the fitness and wellness industry since 2005. She has been an aerobics instruc- tor, a personal trainer, and health educator. She earned a bachelor of science in kinesiology with an emphasis in exer- cise science and a minor in nutrition from the University of Central Arkansas and a master of education in physical education from the at Fayetteville. Previously, she spent nine years as a fitness coordinator for the Baptist Health Fitness Center. Natalie offers a unique take on fitness and wellness with compassion, understanding, and a solid educational foundation for her clients. Her clients do not walk away without knowing why certain things are necessary to attain their goals. She has a young family and understands work-life balance and its importance for health and fitness.

Shannon Nachtigal, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, is the CNO at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She graduated from the Uni- versity of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1989, started her career at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and has worked in many capacities throughout the years. She completed her BSN and MSN through Chamberlain and has her certification as an advanced nurse executive through the ANCC. She has been in her current role for seven years.

Trenda Ray, PhD, RN, serves as the CNO and associate vice chancellor for patient care services at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science (UAMS). In this role she has executive oversight for the inpatient care units, including the resource management office, respiratory care, international services, pastoral care and the care management department. Dr. Ray joined UAMS in 2011 as the ambulatory operations officer and director of ambulatory nursing and served as director of accreditation and compliance from 2014 to 2017, when she was named to lead the Care Manage- ment Program. Before taking on the role of interim CNO in January 2019, she served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Patients and Families.

Elizabeth Sullivan, MBA, BSN, RN, CCRN, is a clinical services manager who works with ICU staff to provide safe patient care to critically ill patients. She has worked with and supported the staff of E4 ICU to overcome the challenges of the COVID pandemic. Elizabeth holds a masters degree in business and bachelors in nursing with a national certifica- tion in critical care.

Sue Tedford, MNSc, APRN, is the executive director at the Arkansas State Board of Nursing. She served as assistant director of education prior to her appointment as executive director. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and her master of nursing science degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. Sue is a licensed registered nurse and advanced practice registered nurse. Sue cur- rently serves as chairman for the Nurse Licensure Compact, president of the Arkansas Center for Nursing and co-chair of the Center for Nursing Data Resource Committee. She has also previously served as past vice-chairman and treasur- er for the Nurse Licensure Compact and on several National Council of State Boards of Nursing committees. Prior to her appointment at the Board of Nursing, Sue served as a faculty and level coordinator at Jefferson Regional School of Nursing for 18 years. She also has experience in critical care, home health, and long term care.

All attendees must be employed by an AHA member hospital or institution. If your facility is eligible for AHA mem- bership but chooses to not be a member, you may not attend this event. CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT 5.0 nursing contact hours will be awarded to nurses who attend the entire workshop and sign in at the registration desk.

Arkansas Hospital Association is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the Midwest Multistate Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Com- mission on Accreditation.

5.0 CPHQ continuing education hours are pending approval by the National Association for Healthcare Quality.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY If cancellations are received before July 16, a refund minus $50 administrative fee will be given. Registrants who cancel the day of the program, or fail to attend, must pay the entire fee. Registrants unable to attend may send an alternate. If the alternate is not a member, the non-member registration fee will be required. Registrations that are faxed are subject to the same cancellation policy.

COVID PRECAUTIONS Arkansas Hospital Association continues to take COVID precautions of masking, social distancing and washing our hands (hand sanitizing). While on AHA campus, attending an AHA-sponsored function or an AHA Affiliated Group function, MASKS WILL BE WORN AT ALL TIMES, except while eating or drinking. Please remember to bring your mask, as they will not be provided. Hand sanitizer will be readily available as well as social distancing to the extent possible in the venue. While the Arkansas mask mandate is no longer in effect, we ask that all in-person attendees follow these guidelines.
