This production is entered in the Kennedy Center Arnerican College Theater Festival (KCACTF). The airns of this national theatel eclucation plogram are to iclentify and pronrote quality in college-level theater production. To this end, each production entered is eligible for a response by a regional KCACTF representative, and selected students and faculty are invited to parlicipate in KCACTF prograrns involving scholarships, internships, grants and awards for actors, playwriglrts, designers, stage managers ancl critics at both the regional and national levels.

Productions enteled on the Participating level are eligible for inclusion at the KCACTF regional f-estival and can also be considered for invitation to the KCACTF national festival at the .lohn F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC in the spring of 2006.

Last year rnore than 1,400 productions were entered in the KCACTF involving more than 200,000 students nationwide. By entering this production, our theater department is sharing in the KCACTF goals to recognize, reward, and celebrate the exernplary work produced in college and university theaters across the nation.

In November 2004, the University bt/ announced a $i5.3 millior-r gift from Carson to the David Lindsay-Abaire University of Nebraska Foundation to support the theatre and film programs in the Hixson-Lied directed by College of Fine and Perforrning Arts. Of that gift, G. Valmont Thomas $4.3 million is for the renovation and expansion of the Ternple Building. Annual income from the endowment will provide support to the Johnny Carson School of Theatre stage manûgement by technicnl direction by and Film in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and performing Arts and the Schenck Mitch Critel broadcast program in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. In the 1970s, he established an eirdowed October 6,7, L2, 1,3, 14, 15, 2005 at 7:30 p.m. scholarship to assist outstanding Nebraska high school graduates. In 19g8, October 9,2005 at 2:00 p.m. he provided a gift toward construction of the Lied performing Center for Howell Theatre Arts. The black box theatre adjoining the main stage was renamecl the Johnny Carson Theater in his honor.
