Prof. S. Vijaya Raju, Department of Commerce & Business Administration, ANU, was appointed as the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has been working in ANU since 1979. He served the university in several key positions as the Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Board of Studies Chairman, Member of Executive Council and Academic Senate in ANU and the Principal of the ANU College of Arts, Commerce and Law. It is a matter of great pride that a professor from the university has been chosen to head the State Council. Endowed with vast academic and administrative experience, it is hoped that Prof. Raju would lead higher education in the right path in the new state of Andhra Pradesh. ANU College of Sciences celebrated the Annual Day for the year 2016-17 on 24-03-2017 in a grand manner. The Vice- Chancellor Prof. A. Rajendra Prasad was the Chief Guest while the Principal Prof. B. Re. Victor Babu was the President of the function. The Special Guest was Sri Gorati Venkanna, a popular poet, while the Rector Prof. K.R.S.Sambasiva Rao, Executive Council Member Prof. M. Koteswara Rao and Prof. K. Venkata Rao were the Guests of Honour. The Registrar Prof. K. John Paul, the OSDs Prof. A V. Dattatreya Rao and Prof. K. Rosaiah, the Vice-Principal Prof. K. Chandan and the Coordinator, Student Affairs Dr. P.P.S. Paul Kumar also ANU Campus, Ongole, conducted the 68th Republic graced the occasion. The musical entertainment was provided Day celebration on 26th January, 2017. Flag hoisting was done by the Gitanjali Orchestra team. Prizes were distributed to by Sankranthi Venkata Krishna, Municipal Commissioner, the winners of different competitions in the function. INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY International Mother Language Day was celebrated on 22nd February, 2017 in ANUCPS in the campus. The chief NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY guest Prof. Varaprasada Murthy, Dept of Telugu, ANU, said ANU celebrated the National Science Day in a fitting that Telugu, a language that is over a thousand years old is manner on 28-02-2017 in the Department of Physics. The products on sale were the outcome of the training programmes in the past on Jute products making, Hand embroidery, Screen Printing, Tailoring, Flower making and Artificial Jewellery making manufactured by the inmates from Ujwala Home, a home for the victims of human trafficking opposite to ANU campus, Guntur. The objective of this programme was to give them a platform to generate income and also to sensitize the society about the worth and dignity of such people.
