Prof. S. Vijaya Raju, Department of Commerce & Business Administration, ANU, was appointed as the Chairman of State Council of Higher Education by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. He has been working in ANU since 1979. He served the university in several key positions as the Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Board of Studies Chairman, Member of Executive Council and Academic Senate in ANU and the Principal of the ANU College of Arts, Commerce and Law. It is a matter of great pride that a professor from the university has been chosen to head the State Council. Endowed with vast academic and administrative experience, it is hoped that Prof. Raju would lead higher education in the right path in the new state of Andhra Pradesh. The products on sale were the outcome of the training programmes in the past on Jute products making, Hand embroidery, Screen Printing, Tailoring, Flower making and Artificial Jewellery making manufactured by the inmates from Ujwala Home, a home for the victims of human trafficking opposite to ANU campus, Guntur. The objective of this programme was to give them a platform to generate income and also to sensitize the society about the worth and dignity of such people. The items displayed included Handbags, Purses, Luggage bags, Cell phone pouches, Folders, Files, Saris, dress materials, Artificial Jewellery such M.Venkata Ramana.
