Aidan M. Carroll). The Gates Millenium Scholar Program, funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, provides 1,000 talented students each year a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books and living expenses. The scholars are also provided with personal and professional development through the Gates leadership programs along with academic support throughout their college careers which prepares them to assume important roles in their professions and in their communities. In addition to becoming a Gates Millenium Scholar, Thomas was also among twenty-four high school seniors who were awarded a Milken Family Foundation Scholarship in the amount of $10,000.00. Candidates for the Milken Scholarship were chosen based on their academic performance, community service, leadership and ability to persevere in the face of challenges. Thomas will be attending Pomona College.
