Concordia is a French national non-governmental and non-profit making organization, founded in 1950 by English, German and French youngsters. Their aim was to enhance the values of tolerance and peace after the 2nd world war by organizing international workcamps of young volunteers.

The main objectives of Concordia are the following:  Education in helping young people to grow up by acquisition of collective life.  Culture in favoring the youth exchanges on an international level, always emphasizing the values of peace, friendship and mutual respect.  Social in taking part in concrete actions of solidarity, as well as supporting a civic attitude.  Social economy in contributing to realization of local development, in favor of the environment, patrimony, tourism and socio-educational animation.

The Paris head office supports the 9 regional offices activities i-e the , , , Ile-de- , Midi-Pyrenees, , , Rhône-Alpes and South-East of France. Concordia has the approval of the French Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Ministry of the Environment.

The Youth House features numerous practices in the sphere of leisure activities as well as culture and sport. It is also a resources space thanks to the youth information centre. It coordinates actions which aim at involving young people in social life with the participation of institutional partners and partners from the associative world. The youth house also contributes to the development of initiatives linked to the learning of the citizenshipThe Youth House is a meeting centre for young people from diverse neighbourhoods of . Thus, it promotes social and multicultural intermingling. It also hosts foreign young people staying in town during international workcamps, the twinning with Neumark and , the international folk dances festival or tourist stays.

The EVS project takes place in the region of Auvergne (centre of France) in the town of Issoire (14 780 inhabitants). This city is located at the crossing of two rivers, and at the door of natural regional parks of “Volcans d'Auvergne” and “Livradois-”: so, it represents a very good point of depart for all those who like hiking, canoeing and other outdoor activities. Issoire is also close to the main regional city of Clermont-Ferrand (149 000 inhabitants) whose position in the centre of France facilitates the access to the Mediterranean coast in the South, the Atlantic ocean in the West, the Alps in the East and Paris in the North.

Moreover, the city of Issoire features cultural, artistic, and outdoor activities throughout the whole year; while the proximity with Clermont-Ferrand enables an easy access to a wider range of other activities, leisures and discoverie.

The main mission of the volunteer will be to add a new international dimension to the projects and activities of the Youth House by bringing his/her own ideas and culture. In particular, with the leaders, the volunteer will: - participate to awareness-raising actions on themes according to his/her centres of interest and skills, but staying in adequacy with domains developed by the Youth House such as art, culture, multimedia, youth information, current musics, sustainable development, citizenship and European identity;

- present these actions to various public (schools, leisure centres, house of associations, residents of the Home of Youth workers, and during special local events) via different media.

However, the main target of the volunteer's activities will remain children (4/11) and especially youngsters, both teenagers (12/17) and young adults (18/30). Thus, the volunteer will be able to express his/her own ideas and creativity by organising different activities for this kind of public:

 recreation and cultural activities;  sport tournaments;  trips around the city area;  workshops (language, music, theatre, video editing, etc.)

Last but not least, the Youth House carries on a project of Issoire city: one Web-TV already functional, and which aims at broadcasting information and at strengthening the links between the inhabitants of the city. Although being involved in all the activities of the Youth House, the volunteer will be particularly positioned on this project as the new European voice of Issoire.

In fact, since the Web-TV has taken its first steps, the Youth House has created a section completely dedicated to Europe. Thus, the volunteer will start discovering the domain of audio-visual methods by actively participating to this section and making a further contribution the project.

The detailed activities will be proposed by the volunteer according to his/her skills and interests, and with the support of the team.

At the end of the project, the volunteer will have:

 improved his/her language skills (English and French);  gained animation and organisational skills;  learnt some audio-visual techniques;  developed his/her autonomy at a personal and professional level;  improved his/her own adaptability to a different and multicultural environment.

 Adaptation, to be communicative and easy to approach towards different audience, and particularly youngsters.  Motivation for the animation sector, and for audio-visual projects.  Speak correct English and/or French, or to be motivated to learn French.  Availability for a 11 months project starting in September 2016.

 Working Hours : The volunteer will work approx. 35 hours per week  Working and living conditions: Accommodation and food will be provided. The volunteer will be accommodated in the Home of Youth Workers (Foyer des Jeunes travailleurs http://www.fjtlapasserelle.fr/r%C3%A9sidence/logement/) which is neighbouring the Youth House. He/she will have his/her own room and he/she will have shared bathroom/kitchen with 1 or 2 other youngsters. In addition the volunteer will get pocket money (115€ per month).  The volunteer will be individually followed by a dedicated mentor from Concordia (organisation that also coordinates the global EVS project).
