GeoJournal of Tourism and Geosites, 25(2), 543–554. https://doi.org/10.30892/gtg.25221-379 Abstract: Rarh Bengal in India is a well known lateritic landscape endowed with a number of geoarchaeological sites. Research gaps have been identified in the systematic mapping and location analysis on the nature of distributional pattern of such geoarchaeosites from the perspective of planning a number of geotourism circuits. With application of nearest neighbour analysis and GIS based digital cartography, this paper is an attempt to analyze space-time dimensions of geosites bearing the traces of past lives with special concentration on our predecessors. With the application of network analysis, shortest route planning is obtained for sustainable tourist movement. Key words: Location, cartography, nearest neighbour, network, sustainable * * * * * * INTRODUCTION Cemented deposits like pebble or cobble conglomerates in many places of Indian subcontinent bears the imprint of past lives of trees, animals and human being with their artifacts. Such fossils are useful for the classification and cataloguing of the entire roster of life with discernable evolution phases along with recognition of the divisions of geologic time (Dietz et al., 1987).

Geo-Analyst , ISSN 2249-2909 2013 CRITICAL APPRAISAL OF URBANIZATION IN PURULIA MUNICIPALITY Meelan Chamling* Abstract Urbanization and modernization are closely related and hence they are in the forefront of discussion and research of Geography. The shift of population from village to city and the process of transformation of a village into the city are called Urbanization. Today, urbanization is a worldwide phenomenon experienced by all countries of the world. In the same context, Purulia Municipality is also fast experiencing this most powerful socio-economic component of modernity. Purulia, one of the most backward districts of West Bengal, has almost ousted from the main platform of economic development and urbanization process. But the growth and spread of globalization and related phenomena are gradually and steadily embracing the district which can be understood by the ever increasing industrial activities and modernization in Purulia Municipality. Moreover, this process has also given birth to a number of shortcomings and its impact is clearly visible among the socio-economic and cultural aspects of the people and its resultant urban morphology. Key words: Municipality, urbanization, urban morphology, globalization, industrialization, slums, rural-urban fringe Introduction The term urbanization in the context of a transformation from ruralism to urbanism concerned with a threefold change: a) behavioral b) economic and c) demographic. All these affect the spatial organization of the human settlement and thereby the design of the urban area. Purulia district which was in fairly backward for a long period of time has started showing gradual response to these factors but not in a uniform manner. Though Purulia Municipality is at present the most urbanized center in the whole district none the less a critical analysis is required to review the reasons for its urbanization and its overall influence on the growing urban landscape and population.

PR Panchet Residency Temple Telkupi Panchet Residency www.panchetresidency.com Garpanchkot - The History Damodar Sekhar, established Panchkot Raj probably during early 90 AD with the help of Sardars of Jhalda and expanded his kingdom over several other parganas. To give recognition to the main five (panch) clans (khunt) of the locals the kingdom assumed the name Panchkot. Panchkot is locally known as Panchet, was a part of an ancient East Indian kingdom known as Rajchakla Panchkot. Panchakot Raj was probably a part of Tilakampa Kingdom. Telkupi was capital of Tilakampa Kingdom and a village under Raghunathpur police station, was submerged with the construction of Panchet Dam. Garpanchkot garh was a part of the Singh Deo dynasty of Panchakot located at the southern foothills and a group of temples are still standing as mute spectators of the rise and fall of the dynasty. The temples are of different architectural styles, the principal one being a 'Pancharatna' temple accompanied by 'Jor-Bangla' type and more than one 'Pirha' type temples made of stone. The Pancharatna temple still carries some depleted but exquisite piece of presumably pre-muslim period terracotta work on its arches and pillars. 500 meters away and a bit uphill from the main ruins of the Garh Panchkot, lies 'Dhara' a perennial spring channeled through a 'Cow mouth' made of stone. www.wishtrip.net | www.panchetresidency.com PR Panchet Residency Village Telkupi at Garpanchkot “VILLAGE TELKUPI” is an Eco-Village at Garpanchkot, a part of “Panchet Residency”, epitomizing the beauty of Bengal. Spread over 15 acres of prime property makes Panchet Residency the ultimate 'Eco-Friendly Resort' in the country.
