The best way to take advantage of Ramadan is to develop a Ramadan action plan — because a failure to plan is a plan for failure. If you don’t set goals, it gets difficult to measure yourself and assess the current state of your worship.

    Islamic calendar From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -at اﻟﺘﻘﻮﻳﻢ اﻟﻬﺠﺮي :The Islamic, Muslim, or Hijri calendar (Arabic taqwīm al-hijrī) is a lunar calendar consisting of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days. It is used (often alongside the Gregorian calendar) to date events in many Muslim countries. It is also used by Muslims to determine the proper days of Islamic holidays and rituals, such as the annual period of fasting and the proper time for the pilgrimage to Mecca. The Islamic calendar employs the Hijri era whose epoch was Islamic Calendar stamp issued at King retrospectively established as the Islamic New Year of AD 622. During Khaled airport (10 Rajab 1428 / 24 July that year, Muhammad and his followers migrated from Mecca to 2007) Yathrib (now Medina) and established the first Muslim community (ummah), an event commemorated as the Hijra. In the West, dates in this era are usually denoted AH (Latin: Anno Hegirae, "in the year of the Hijra") in parallel with the Christian (AD) and Jewish eras (AM). During Ramadan, Muslims are required to refrain from eating and drinking during daylight hours. Although exempted from fasting, many patients undergoing maintenance haemodialysis (HD) opt to participate in this religious practice. Many studies have explored the effects of Ramadan on health outcomes, however, the exploration from patients’ own point of view pertaining to this religious practice is lacking. Thus, we aimed to explore the experiences and perceptions of Muslim HD patients observing Ramadan fasting from three HD centres in Klang Valley, Malaysia. Method: An exploratory phenomenology qualitative study was conducted whereby subjects were purposively selected based on previous experience in observing Ramadan fasting. Face-to-face in-depth interviews were conducted, and study data were analyzed thematically and iteratively coded using a constant comparison method. Results: Four major themes emerged from the data, namely: (i) “fasting experiences”, (ii) “perceived side effects of fasting”, (iii) “health-seeking behavior” and, (iv) “education and awareness needs”. Patients expressed the significance of Ramadan fasting as well as the perceived impact of fasting on their health. Additionally, there is lack of health- seeking behaviour observed among patients thus, raising needs for awareness and education related to Ramadan fasting.

    The 21st Century New Muslim Generation Converts in Britain and Germany Submitted by Caroline Neumueller to the University of Exeter as a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Arab and Islamic Studies October 2012 1 2 Abstract The dissertation focuses on the conversion experiences and individual processes of twenty-four native British Muslim converts and fifty-two native German Muslim converts, based on personal interviews and completed questionnaires between 2008 and 2010. It analyses the occurring similarities and differences among British and German Muslim converts, and puts them into relation to basic Islamic requirements of the individual, and in the context of their respective social settings. Accordingly, the primary focus is placed on the changing behavioural norms in the individual process of religious conversion concerning family and mixed-gender relations and the converts’ attitudes towards particularly often sensitive and controversial topics. My empirical research on this phenomenon was guided by many research questions, such as: What has provoked the participants to convert to Islam, and what impact and influence does their conversion have on their (former and primarily) non-Muslim environment? Do Muslim converts tend to distance themselves from their former lifestyles and change their social behavioural patterns, and are the objectives and purposes that they see themselves having in the given society directed to them being: bridge-builders or isolators? The topic of conversion to Islam, particularly within Western non-Muslim societies is a growing research phenomenon. At the same time, there has only been little contribution to the literature that deals with comparative analyses of Muslim converts in different countries.

This contemporary Qur’an (with an interlinear Persian translation in blue) is opened to the verses concerning the observance of Ramadan. The pertinent passage begins on the left-hand page, seven lines down from the top: It is the month of Ramadan in which the Qur’an was revealed, as a guide to humanity, and clear proofs for guidance and distinguishing right from wrong. And whoever among you is present, they should fast in the month; and whoever is sick or on a journey, should fast on other days. God wants ease for you and does not want hardship for you; but to complete the period of fasting, and to glorify God for having guided you; and so that you might be grateful. (al-Baqara 2.185) 2. Qur’an. Dated Muharram 1254 AH / ca. 1876 CE.     SABA Islamic Center 2020 1441-1442 Hijri Peace be upon the Family of Yāsīn (Ahl al-Bayt) (37:130) Ziyārat Āl-I-Yāsīn & its Subsequent Du'ā' Ziyārat Āl-I-Yāsīn is a significant ziyārah attributed to Imām az-Zamān (aj). It is reported in Mafātīh al-Jinān that this ziyārah originated as a Ḥadīth al-Qudsī, direct narration from Allah. The term “Āl-I-Yāsīn” means “Āl-I-Mu'ammad (s)” or “Family of Muhammad,” as Yāsīn is a title of the Noble Prophet (s). This is also the correct way to recite these words in verse 37 of Sūrat as-Saffāt. In addition to its beautiful words, a unique feature of this du'ā' is that in it, we testify to all our core beliefs, one-by-one. It is also recommended to recite this du'ā' to obtain relief from oppression.
