An introduction to MG Motor UK

Today, MG is more than just an iconic octagonal badge. It is once again a motoring force to be reckoned with. With strong financial backing and a bright future, MG is ready to write the most exciting chapter in what is already a colourful story.

Dealer network

MG Motor UK’s dealer network continues to grow year-on-year and currently totals 77, represented by large and small groups as well as quality independents. By the end of 2017, MG Motor UK plans to have 90 dealers in place.

Its straightforward approach to franchising and low cost of set-up appeals to dealers that want to be part of a dynamic and successful organisation, to be listened to and to play a role in shaping the future direction of the franchise.

MG sales

New registration figures for MG continue to enjoy incredible growth, increasing almost 33% from 2015 (3,152) to 2016 (4,192). The brand is tracking ahead of year-on-year figures and expects to break 5,000 new car registrations at the end of 2017, thanks to continued penetration of the MG3 and MG GS, as well as the launch of its all-new Compact SUV at the end of the year.

British design and engineering

All vehicle design and engineering takes place at SAIC Motor UK Technical Centre (SMTC UK) in , which employs 300 engineers and is co-located with the headquarters of MG Motor UK.

Alongside evolving the initial concepts for all new MG vehicles, the team also manages testing and innovation programmes. This includes a global initiative to create new, environmentally-friendly powertrain technologies.
