Its size shall be between the Honorary Cross~ Class I and 2, have the same front and reverse as the latter and they are to be worn around the neck from a white, watered silk band, ~ cm wide, with three black stripes. The list of Rhodesian honours and awards, which are for gallantry and distinction in the armed forces and for service to the country in other fie!ds~ was announced in the House of Assembly recently by the Minister of Defence~ Mr. Jack Ho~an. All distinctions and awards on grounds of rank have been re- moved; there is one medal for whatever rank a person may hold. THE ORDER OF PRECEDENCE

Grand Master of the Legion of Merit: To be held only by the President~ as Head of the 0rder~ for his period of office. This distinction will be marked on ceremonial occasions by the wearing of the collar or chain of this Order in addition to the sash~ badge and star of the class of Grand Commander which will be assumed by the President on relinquishing his office. I. Grand Cross of Valour (G.C.V.): For conspicuous valour by members of the Security Forces in combat. This is the highest award for gallantry and will head the order of precedence. The ribbon of the award will be worn in the buttonhole. 2. Conspicuous Gallantry Decoration (C.G.D.): For acts of the highest gallantry and brave conduct of an outstanding or- der in a non-combatant capacity by civilians and members of the Security Forces. The ribbon of this award will be worn in the buttonhole.

3. Grand Commander of the Legion of Merit (G.C.L.M.): For outstanding public service to Rhodesia in any field and for award to high foreign dignitaries. Recipients will have the right to wear a green rosette in their buttonhole. On formal occasions a sash~ badge and star will be worn. 4. ,,~dependence Decoration (I.D.): For persons who played a notable and significant part before or at the time of~ or immediately suc- ceeding the Declaration of Inde- pendence. Worn on the breast.

5. Independence Commemorative Decoration (I.C.D.): For persons who have rendered valuable ser- vice up to March 2nd, 1970. Worn on the breast. Both the Independence and In- dependence Commemorative Decora- tion will only be awarded to mark the services that are cited and will not be repeated.

The ribbon of the colours of the order will be worn in the buttonhole.
