Wed. 13 Sept. - Gillian Star & Terri-Anne Pre-school Visit Wellings Once again, the pre-schoolers will visit on Wednesday and spend the morning session in Student of the Month the K-2 classroom. This is a great chance to see what school is like and have recess with the students. Enrol Now for Kindergarten 2019 Enrolments are now being taken for Kindergarten 2019. K/1/2 News Mrs Robertson I hope all dads enjoyed their special day and 3/4 News appreciated the handmade present and card. Students really love taking the time to do this. Mr Evers and Miss Sim will be continuing the 3/4 program this week while Mrs Young is at training. In library, the K-2 students will walk around the school to see if they can identify some of the oldest buildings in the school and take photos of them to see what is the same and what is different from the past. It was interesting that they identified the oldest buildings as the ones with spider webs and dust-the COLA! Mrs Young 5/6 News After reading the text Bear and Chook by the Sea by Lisa Shanahan, the students are creating their own stories about contrasting animal characters that go on an adventure. The spelling focus this week is the diagraph ‘oi’ and ‘oy’. ‘Oi' is generally used in the middle of a word and ‘oy’ is generally used at the end. The Etymological focus this week is 'audi' meaning to hear, listen and sound.

On Friday, 10 August Haley, Charlotte, Brooklyn and I travelled to Albury for the Riverina PSSA Athletics carnival. We ran in the Nigel Bagley 4x100m relay. It was very cold and wet. We came fourth in our heat. It was a great experience to race on an all-weather track which I haven’t run on before. Thank you to Billy-Jo, Mrs Star and Mrs Headrick for taking us and cheering us on. Dusty Premier’s Sporting Challenge I have submitted our results to PSC. The sporting challenge is based on a team effort. The K/1/2 class received silver certificates and 3-6 achieved gold certificates. I hope students will continue to be active throughout the year. Trent Barrett Shield It is very exciting for our four girls, Haley, Annabell, Charlotte and Jewel who have the opportunity to be a part of the Griffith Small Schools team to participate in the next level of Trent Barrett shield in today.
