AFTER THE CHASE Four former Hawks players have had the opportunity to continue their basketball careers following their final game at The Chase Family Arena. Danielle Hood, a 2008 graduate, was the first ever women’s basketball player at the University of Hartford to be drafted, taken by the expansion Atlanta Dream with the 32nd overall pick. Three Hawks are still competing in the sport they love as Diana Delva, MaryLynne Schaefer and Katie Kelley are all playing internationally. Delva is the most recent graduate to begin a professional career playing her first season for DAS Ano Liosia in Greece. Meanwhile in Europe, Katie Kelley and MaryLynne Schaefer continue as teammates, playing for KuSG Leimen. Schaefer returns for her second season playing in Germany. Last year Schaefer finished her first season with Leimen as the second leading scorer (356 total points), while making 38 percent of her three pointers.
