Offense POHL NAMED STARTING QUARTERBACK For the second consecutive year, junior QB Kyle Pohl handle duties under center. In 2013, he started all 12 games and was 225-of-402 passing for 2,438 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is the first quarterback to start in back-to-back seasons in the Bowden era.

In the opener against Howard, Pohl led the Zips with a career-high four touch- down passes on 23-of-36 passing for 308 yards. He threw three touchdown passes in the first six minutes of action, as each scoring drive was under 38 seconds. Pohl Dedication led all rushers with a career-high 48 yards on seven carries. For his efforts, he earned MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and Alan Arrington, Asst. Head Coach/OL Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Week honors. Akron assistant head football and O-Line coach Alan “Tank” Arrington (44) died on At Penn State, Pohl went 24-of-46 for 208 yards. AKRON, Ohio – Behind an offensive attack led by junior QB Kyle Pohl, Akron had no UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Akron defense forced three turnovers but the Zips were trouble handling Howard in its season opener, cruising to a 41-0 victory at InfoCision only able to convert them into three points as UA dropped a 21-3 decision at Penn Stadium – Summa Field.
