Each year the Australian Institute of Architects celebrates the innovative Library at the Dock work of our Victorian architects. This year Studco are thrilled to acknowledge our involvement in two of the award winning projects for 2015. The Library at the Dock is the centrepiece of Victoria Harbour’s new civic heart serving the broader Docklands’ community. The structure went up in just 60 days and has been awarded Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star rating for a public building. Taking out the Allan and Beth Coldicutt Award for Sustainable Architecture, the project also received a Commendation for Public Architecture (New).

The Arena, one of Studco’s most Margaret Courrt Arena challenging projects received the Architecture Award for the Public Architecture Alterations & Additions category. The redevelopment works include a major upgrade and the installation of a new façade, a retractable roof, and fully enclosed foyer and concourse area. This project utilised Studco’s Real time 3D CAD modelling and computer based acoustic simulations along with custom rolled steel studs and the Resilmount M24R chase wall resilient brackets. Studco continuously thrives to be at the forefront of innovation in building systems.

In the case of a door being slammed shut, the track fixing becomes extremely important in maintaining the integrity of the plaster finish. In high traffic applications – hospitals, sports stadiums and public venues – another Studco M104 HEDA connector bracket should be used at the base connection of the HEDAjamb stud. For a strong head connection, fix a short piece of HEDAjamb stud between the two jamb studs using brackets or short track sections.
