The mission of our organization is to enhance the quality of care of every member and to improve the health of our communities. Our vision is based upon the four tenets of the KP Promise quality you can trust, caring with a personal touch, convenient and easy service, and affordability. Our work each day is guided by nine values - Integrity, Partnership, Diversity, Accountability, Flexibility, Innovation, Quality, Service, and Results. By consistently practicing our values, we naturally create the positive experiences our members and others expect of us. We treat our members with the understanding they deserve and the expertise they trust, as we partner with them to maintain their health.

SCPMG is fortunate to have a stability of more than 50 years. We have 3,500 partner physicians and each medical center is represented by two to three elected board members and an area associate medical director. Together, we practice state of art medicine that is aligned with our quality, service, and access goals.

Kaiser Permanente’s new comprehensive information technology system, Health Connect, is being implemented across our region. HealthConnect, which features electronic medical records, will ensure that our physicians have the information they need to provide excellent care to patients.

SCPMG prides itself on attracting outstanding physicians. We offer them an opportunity to have sustained, fulfilling careers in their practices and they enjoy the benefits of a large, stable medical group. We also offer opportunities for physicians to broaden their skills, participate in the governance of our Medical Group, and for some, take on additional clinical or administrative activities.

Our focus is on the future of medicine, but we continue to value the time-honored traditions of professionalism, a strong commitment to our self- governed group practice - and most of all -we hold an abiding love for the practice of medicine.

Continuing Education: Educational Leave is granted for the mutual benefit of the individual physician and SCPMG. It must be used for bona fide programs, such as attending educational meetings, taking courses, or participating in university medical teaching. Educational Leave may be taken to study for specialty or subspecialty Board exams. Educational Leave must be approved in advance by the Chief of Service and the Area Associate Medical Director.

Recruiting in numerous specialties, including but not limited to: • Emergency Medicine • Neurology • Psychiatry • Family Medicine • Orthopaedic Surgery • Rheumatology • Internal Medicine • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation • Maternal Fetal Medicine • Physician Assistant

Profile Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, located in Hartford, Connecticut, has come a long way since 1897, when overcoming near-impossible odds to open a two-room hospital in Hartford’s Asylum Hill neighborhood. From a fledgling hospital with 32 patients in a ward, Saint Francis has grown into New England’s largest Catholic hospital, with 617 licensed inpatient beds, 65 bassinets, and five centers of excellence that embrace patients at every stage of lifetime.

As the needs of Connecticut residents evolve, so does Saint Francis. In 2011, the John T. O’Connell Tower opened its doors. Ten stories high, the tower features a new emergency department with 70 treatment areas, 13 sheltered ambulance bays, and a rooftop helipad. The upper floors are home to 19 new operating rooms and 135 private patient rooms, including two floors dedicated to orthopedics.

Responding to the dynamics of the changing marketplace, the hospital recently adopted a five-year strategic plan designed to position it for future growth. The plan sets forth a road map for delivering on its promise of BestCare for a LifetimeSM. Toward that end, a patient-centered model of care has been envisioned to produce the perfect patient experience and the highest measurable quality across the continuum of care needed by our community.

CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE

New Beginnings Family Birth Care model provides a unique birthing experience for each mother and her family. It offers enhanced privacy features, attractive and comfortable surroundings and the latest medical technology. Delivery by a nurse midwife is among the options available.

Comprehensive Breast Health Center, women with routine, as well as complex, breast health concerns, benefit from our streamlined approach to breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center is one of New England’s leading outpatient cancer treatment centers, providing the latest technology and the most comprehensive range of treatment options in the region. A team approach distinguishes the Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center. Specialists - medical, surgical, radiation, rehabilitation and others - can see each patient in a single visit.

Hoffman Heart and Vascular Institute of Connecticut is the largest open-heart surgery center in Connecticut. The institute also routinely performs more cardiac catheterizations than any other heart center in the state - numbers that directly correlate with saving lives. With state-of-the-art technology, Saint Francis cardiologists can also correct heart rhythm disorders and manage patients with advanced congestive heart failure. Of note, the institute’s electrophysiology laboratories are equipped with Stereotaxis® magnet-guided catheter technology, which allows treatment of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias with pinpoint accuracy and increased safety.

Connecticut Joint Replacement Institute (CJRI) is the newest of Saint Francis’ Centers of Excellence. Led by fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons and located in the new John T. O’Connell Tower, CJRI is a “hospital within a hospital,’’ with dedicated operating rooms and staff for hip and knee replacement. CJRI is recognized as one of the major arthritis and joint replacement centers on the East Coast.

In addition to direct patient care, the staff of CJRI is involved in research in materials used in joint replacement surgery and in post-operative pain control. Since it opened in 2007, CJRI has been the largest joint replacement center in Connecticut.

Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital is located on the campus of the former Mount Sinai Hospital in Hartford’s North End. The 60-bed facility is Connecticut’s only freestanding acute care rehabilitation hospital. Its focus is to restore the lives of people following serious illness or injury through programs for traumatic brain injury, stroke/neurological rehabilitation, sports medicine, spinal cord injuries and orthopedics. In addition, it offers rehabilitation services for patients who have become debilitated following a serious illness or a long hospital stay. The rehabilitation team also works closely with the staff of the Joyce D. and Andrew J. Mandell Center for Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care and Neuroscience Research. The center provides MS patients with services that were not previously available in the region, including a unique robotic walking system, known as the Lokomat®, now being applied in specialized MS research.

In addition to its centers of excellence, Saint Francis offers a full range of expert medical and dental care with respected programs in Stroke care, Surgery, Surgical weight loss, Diabetes management, Orthopedic and sports medicine, Pain management and Integrative medicine.

From its humble beginnings, Saint Francis has continuously responded to the community’s evolving healthcare needs through a combination of the best clinical care, the best training of health care professionals, top-level research, and community support. For more than 120 years, Temple Health has been providing advanced care to the Philadelphia region, while leading in the discovery of new and better medical treatments. Today, Temple Health’s physician leadership is building on its rich history, and transforming one of Philadelphia’s leading academic medical centers into a nationally renowned, top-tier medical institution.

In just the last year, world-recognized clinicians, researchers, academicians and administrators have joined the organization in key leadership positions. We have launched advanced clinical endeavors such as our Robotic Surgery Program. Our School of Medicine has opened a strong regional campus at St. Luke’s Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem. We’ve expanded our clinical sites to include a new outpatient office in Oaks, PA and one soon to open in Fort Washington. And we’ve enhanced the care of our Board Street campus with investments like that in the new patient-focused Ambulatory Surgery Center.

With our new programs, research and faculty, this is one of the most dynamic periods in Temple Health’s history.

There are 18 clinical departments in the School of Medicine, comprised of over 499 full-time faculty, 44 part-time faculty and 814 volunteer faculty, and 869 staff. Each department is engaged in education, patient care and research. TUSM takes pride in the excellence of its teaching, service and research programs. It remains fully accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. Each year it admits 210 medical students and approximately 24 graduate students. Reflecting the excellent quality of a Temple medical education, its M.D. graduates are highly regarded by competitive residency training programs, and have made significant career contributions to both medical practice and medical research. Many have become department chairpersons, deans and vice presidents of major academic medical centers.

TUSM enjoys a close educational and working relationship with the Temple University Health System, now encompassing Temple University Hospital and its Episcopal campus, and Jeanes Hospital. Major teaching affiliates include St. Luke’s University Health Network in Bethlehem; the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville; the West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh; the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County; Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington Township; and the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Combined with office practices at Temple and its affiliates, and those of highly qualified primary care and specialty practitioners throughout the Commonwealth, Temple students become experienced in caring for individuals with simple to highly complex illnesses in a variety of settings.
