1. Situation update: 1.1 The flood is rising along the main rivers in the Republic of Moldova – Nistru and Prut. The most serious damages caused by the floods are in regions of Briceni – in the north, Hincesti, Ungheni, Nisporeni in the center of the country. It is expected that the flood situation will get worse in the regions Cahul, Gurgiulesti – in the north. There is flood protection preparedness measures along Prut River in the Briceni and Edint regions. 1.2 As a consequence of flooding about 3300 persons have been evacuated, more than 350 houses are flooded and some of them are destroyed and nearly 1100 houses are at the risk of being flooded. 1.3 The floods affect about 33.528 ha of agricultural lands, destroyed 19 bridges, 76 wells, 182 km of roads, 10 dams, educational and administrative buildings. 1.4 Necessary actions have been carried out by Moldovan authorities in the regions Briceni – Drepcauti, Criva on the North part, Hincesti – Nemteni – Cotul, Morii – Obileni – Sarateni, Ungheni – Macaresti, Nisporeni – Grozesti – Barboieni, Cahul – Slobozia Mare. 1.5 A large number of volunteers, thousands of rescues and firemen, policemen, military troops and customs guard are involved in the flood protection works. All National resources available for disaster response and measures are being employed.

3.1 The EADRCC has been informed that the Federal State Hesse (Germany) offers 30.000 sandbags (60x30cm). The complete costs for the sandbags and the transportation will be covered by Germany.
