She was 7. Train Daily at 5800 Feet (1900 Meters) She was in my first Starfish Group Always tall for her age. Big feet – she did not always like Loved to race not to practice Practiced 3 to 4 times per week one hour per workout – focused on strokes and drills Moved into Red Group when she was almost 9. Practices are 1.5 hours offered 6 days per week Focus on skill and stroke development. Good base of kicking Started becoming a better workout swimmer still loved to race. Continued to swim summer club also and play other sports (Volleyball) Moved into our black group (STARS Top Age Group) when she was almost 11. 2 hour workouts offered 6 times per week Fall of 2007 (Missy age 12) she told me she wanted to make Olympic Trials for 2008 Made first two National Cuts (Yards) in November 2007. I did not even realize it her mom told me she had made them. Broke First National Age Group Record January 2008 – 200 Free (Yards) 1:49. Second Youngest Qualifier for USA Olympic Trials in 2008 50 Free – 39th Place 100 Free – 37th Place 200 IM – 41st Place Went all best times in Prelims – Only 47% of swimmers went best times Great Experience for the Future!!! Have not celebrated any National Age Group Records since her first one – 200 Free – Age 12 We talk about her goals and what she can do. Records will take care of themselves!! I know what the records are because that is my job! Missy does not know all the records. She does not need to know them I do.
