Dr CSRK Prasad former Dean Student Affairs, Professor of CED, NIT W has enlightened the importance of ecological sustainability in planning of smart cities during the inaugural session on the conference. About Twenty-seven participants from Industries, academicians and research scholars have registered for the workshop. In the afternoon session of day one i.e.28.09.2018 Dr B Krishna Prapoorna, Associate Professor from IIT Tirupathi has elaborated on Smart and Sustainable Pavement Technologies: Vision for future. It was continued by five presentation from the participants. In the second day of forenoon session i.e.29.09.2018. Dr K V R Ravi Shanka, Assistant Professor from NIT Warangal has explained on pedestrian safety considerations in Indian traffic conditions and is followed by four paper presentations from the participants. After the tea break, Mr. B.Venu Gopal, Senior Manager from HMRL, Hyderabad enlighten on the difficulties faced during the construction of and how those challenges were achieved. It was followed by four presentations from the participants. In the afternoon session of day two i.e.29.09.2018 Prof. B.P. Chandrasekhar, Technical Advisor, APSRRDA, GoAP has elaborated on the importance of Sustainable Technologies for urban cities. It was continued by five presentation from the participants. The conference was concluded with a Valedictory & certificate distribution by Dr K M Lakshmana Rao, Professor, UCE, JNTU, Dr. A. Mallika CED. A CD containing the proceedings and the keynote presentations was also distributed to all the participants. It is understood from the participant feedback that all the keynotes and presentations were very informative and appreciated by the participants to the faculty. I thank the Management, Principal, HOD – CE, Faculty & Staff of CED and Students for their constant encouragement, valuable suggestions and support provided in organizing this conference successfully.

The session showcased the research work going on different material usage in concrete and sustainability of the materials. The keynote Lecture-2 & Technical session -2&3 was given by Dr. P. Rathish Kumar NIT Warangal . The session showcased the research work going on different material usage in concrete and sustainability of the materials. The keynote Lecture-3 & Technical session -4 was given by Dr. P. N.Rao Professor BITS Pilani Hyderabad. The session showcased Different fiber reinforced concretes, self-compacting concrete, Bacteria concrete. The keynote Lecture-4 & Technical session -5 by Dr.G.Rajesh Kumar Professor NIT Warangal .The session showcased Development of mix design for SCC(Self compacting concrete), Destructive and Non Destructive tests on concrete. Technical session -6 by Dr. M.Janardhan Professor JNTU Hyderabad. The session showcased Nano Technology applications, study on pervious concrete pavements.

Key note address of Technical session-1 Highlighted the “use of Geospatial Technology For Monitering And Mapping Urban Floods” by Scientist of NRSC, Hyderabad.The session showcased the usage of Geo-spatial technology for monitoring and maping the urban floods.

Key note address of Technical session-2 Highlighted “Impact Of Climate Change On Water Resources Engineering:Planning Aspects” by Prof K .Srinivasa Raju BITS Hyderabad.The session consisted the research papers on Disaster preparedness ,Mitigation and Reconstruction of Sustainable Society.

Key note address of Technical session-3 Highlighted Need for “Pre Earthquake Risk Assessment of Buildings in Moderate -to -severe Earthquake Prone Areas in India” by Prof.R.Pradeep Kumar ,Professor IIIT Htderabad .The session consisted the research papers on building information modeling a reliable tool for construction.Structural health monitoring using metal wire based piezo Impadance Transduce.

A Report on National Conference on “Recent Trends in Structural Engineering” th th 6 - 7 January 2012 under TEQIP –

RTSE conference started with an inspiring and a very informative speech by Dr. K V L Subramaniam, Professor & Head, IIT Hyderabad on 6th Jan’ 2012. He highlighted the recent techniques and developments in the field of structural engineering such as need for using the innovative materials, necessity of designing earthquake resistant structures, current research that is going on in the design of smart structures and innovative construction practices etc. This was followed by a key note lecture by Sri P. Surya Prakash, Director, SatyaVani Projects & Consultants Pvt. Ltd. who handled various prestigious projects in and outside the country which include Snow world, Laser gallery, GVK one , Rapid Metro Rail etc. He emphasized the various new structural forms, buildability and sustainability of the structures. In the first technical session on 6th Jan’ 2012 afternoon, various authors including academicians, research scholars and consulting engineers presented technical papers. The authors are from DSCE Bangalore, AIT Bangalore, FBA Consulting Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, , JNTUH, Chaitanya Engg. College, Vizag, NBKR Inst. of Science & Tech., Nellore Dt. A cultural program was arranged in the evening by the students of Civil Engg. Dept., VNRVJIET. The second technical session on 7th Jan’ 2012 included technical paper presentations by students from NIT Tiruchirapally, DSCE Bangalore, JNTUH, GPR Engg. College Kurnool, St. Martins Engg. College, Hyderabad, Gurunanak College of Engg., Hyderabad, and VNRVJIET. Besides paper presentations, events like Treasure Hunt using Survey instruments and Technical quiz were conducted on the second day. On the whole the conference focused on Recent Trends and developments in the field of Structural Engineering and provided a platform for sharing the knowledge, discussing the research results, new developments and novel concepts in the field of structural engineering. The feedback of the participants was positive and the conference was successful in fulfilling the ambitions of participants.
