Background to the Post

WCG has gained funding to deliver the Train 4 Success project across and the Centre for Digital and Cyber Skills and the Centre for Culture and Tourism projects across . All of these projects are part funded by the European Social Fund. The ESF projects will provide essential support for workers that are in need of retraining or upskilling

The projects run until October 2020, and these post are part funded by the European Social Fund.

We are looking for Instructors/Technicians that are able to prepare and deliver training in relevant subject areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

The post will be instrumental in the delivery of education and training programmes for learners, duties will include:

● Developing bespoke programmes in relevant subject areas

● Create a learning environment that will enable students to achieve their full potential in relation to facilities and resources available to them.

● Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a professional and immaculate image and high standards

● Deliver practical training/instruction to learners at all levels.

● Carry out training and assessment for learners to include the following tasks:

● Skills/technical competence development ● Support candidates to achieve their qualifications ● Provide feedback on progress ● Guide and coach the candidates ● Assessment of competence to national standards

The College expects flexibility in its staff, and the successful applicant may well be required to broaden their range of expertise as they develop in their job:

 To supervise, instruct and assess WCG students completing their work experience

 To assist with record keeping, ordering of resources and general maintenance of course delivery premises and equipment

Annual Leave

The College offers a generous annual leave entitlement to support staff, commencing with 25 days rising to 28 days after 5 years’ service, pro rata per annum plus 8 statutory days (Public & bank Holidays) and College closure days.

Hours of Work

The post holder will be expected to work such hours as are necessary for the proper performance of their duties and responsibilities, normally 37 hours per week.

Place of work

The principal place of work will be the College’s premises based at our Royal Centre. However, the post holder may be required to work on either a temporary or an indefinite basis at any premises at which we may provide services.

Protection of Children and Young Persons

Any offers of appointment will be conditional and subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, a certificate of good conduct if applicable, plus receipt of satisfactory employment references, Occupational Health clearance, an understanding of safeguarding and qualifications verification. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position as you will be working within 'Regulated Activity' within a specific place (ie the College).

Physical Make-up

Ability to perform the tasks as described in the job description. How Measured

Attainments: Application Interview Form

Essential GCSE Grade C or above in English and   Mathematics, or Level 2 equivalent qualification.

Industry experience in a relevant area.  

Experience in delivering to the target   group.

Teacher Qualified or a willingness to  achieve CET (1 year programme) within

3 years of commencement.

Excellent administrative and  organisational skills.

Excellent communication skills, both  verbal and written.

Desirable Membership of appropriate professional  bodies/groups.

A full clean driving licence. 

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential Self-motivated and the ability to motivate  others.

Self-starter and team player. 

Effective time management. 

Excellent organisational and  communicational skills oral and written. 

Ability to deliver a quality student/client  focused service.

Good timekeeping and reliability are  essential.

To be aware of current animal welfare  issues.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding  and knowledge of Equality and Diversity.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding  and knowledge of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.

Ability to demonstrate behaviours which  support the Core Values of the College.
