Girls Queen Mary’s High School Wolverhampton Girls’ High School Newport Girls’ High School Year 7 Admissions entry for entry in September 2018 There are 120 places for girls at Queen Mary's High School for entry to year 7 in September 2018. Admission is based on the results of the school’s entrance test. We administer the test as part of a Consortium of grammar schools in Shropshire, Walsall and Wolverhampton. Our entrance test will take place on Monday, 18th September 2017. The test comprises two papers of about an hour each, which assess verbal /non-verbal and numerical ability. School / Consortium Applications You only need to register once to enable your child to sit the entrance test. Once you have submitted this online registration you will receive an email to confirm it has been submitted successfully. Please check your junk/spam email folder before contacting us if you have not received it. We will try to place applicants at their preferred choice of test centre. However, the final allocation will be determined by the schools. Timetable for admissions in September 2018: • Open evening – Thursday 4th May 2017. • Application arrangements and admissions arrangements available – on-line from Friday 7th April 2017 • Closing date for applications to the School – Friday 7th July 2017 • Arrangements for the testing date will be posted out to you in week commencing 4th September 2017 • Entrance Test day – Monday 18th September 2017 • Results posted to parents – week commencing 16th October 2017 - Parents will receive a results letter from each school for which their daughter has been tested. Applications for places at the School It is important to note that for your daughter to be considered for entry at any of the grammar schools within the Consortium of Shropshire, Walsall and Wolverhampton, parents must complete an online application to sit the Consortium Entrance test and the school must be listed on your Common Application Form (CAF1) / Preference Form, submitted to your home Local Authority by the due date. Therefore, please ensure that you complete your home (CAF1)/ Preference Form and submit by the due return date. Special Arrangements Special arrangements may be agreed for children who satisfy the Governors that they have special education needs, or who have a disability under the terms of the Equality Act 2010 that would disadvantage them in the admissions process. Parents should contact the school to request a Special Arrangements Form if appropriate. Any request will only be considered with a completed Special Arrangements Form, which must be returned with supporting evidence from third parties (e.g. doctor, specialist consultant, Local Authority, etc.). It is yours (and not the school’s) responsibility to provide all relevant evidence. We will NOT request additional information. All requests for special arrangements must be sent to the School before 7th July 2017. If the form has not been completed and returned to the school by the deadline NO special arrangements can be considered for your child. Pupil Premium Children attracting the Pupil Premium at the time of the test who achieve the qualifying score by rank order of standardised score but limited to no more than 30 pupils in this category will be admitted. The school will require evidence of Pupil Premium immediately and certainly prior to the closing date for test registration (7th July 2017) – the school reserves the right to withdraw the offer of a place if the offer has been on the basis of an incorrect, fraudulent or misleading application.
