Since then we have had a whirlwind of change. Many have faced disappointments and great challenges. Still others find that the normality of their lives has been upended. For too many, illness they have already been living with has been complicated, and great numbers have struggled with or are suffering from COVID-19. We have not been able to give loved ones who have died in these times the funerals we would like to have arranged for them. Those working in what have been classed as ‘essential services’, especially those in all branches of healthcare, are working in a new normality that is at the limit of human endurance. Most of us are being asked to make our contribution by heeding the message: ‘Stay at home’ These are traumatic times for everyone.

Cork, Ireland. The input of community stakeholders facilitated by Eibhlín O’Sullivan (Irish South and West Fishermen’s Producer Organisation (ISWFPO) with the assistance of Frank Fleming (consultant to the ISWFPO), and co-ordinated by Rod Cappell (Poseidon Aquatic Resource Management Ltd) formed the basis of the quantitative and qualitative information presented. I have already made a statement covering the period to the Truce on July 11th 1921. I now desire to furnish particulars of my activities in the subsequent period. For a few days following the declaration of the Truce there was a general air of rejoicing and relaxation both amongst the men of the I.R.A. and the general public. However, within a week arrangements were being made to organise training camps in which those who had not already seen active service would be trained. Before proceeding with this aspect of the wprk, Battalion H.Q.. was established in Bantry and all officers on the Battalion Staff Wet about organising the services for which they were responsible throughout the battalion area. By the end of July, 1921, the work of organisation had been completed. Early in August the first training camp Was set up at Ahakista.. This. camp was attended by members of the Brigade and Battalion Staffs. Denis Lordan, who had been Adjutant of the Brigade Column, was in charge. About sixty officers were in attendance. The camp was continued for a week, during which all present were put through a thorough course.
