BT Sport Exclusive Live Premier League Games for October and November Aug 12, 2016 15:01 BST BT Sport exclusive live Premier League games for October and November The North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur takes top billing in BT Sport’s line-up of nine first-class games, shown exclusively live in October and November. These exciting Premier League matches this Autumn follow on from the key games shown in August and September. In addition, BT Sport will once again be the home of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League this season. BT Sport’s coverage in October kicks off when Mourinho’s Manchester United take on Stoke City managed by former Old Trafford hero Mark Hughes on Sunday 1 October at 12:00pm. Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace host West Ham United at Selhurst Park on Saturday 15 October at 5:30pm and the following week sees Liverpool taking on West Bromwich Albion live on BT Sport with a 5:30pm kick-off on Saturday 22 October. The month culminates with another trip to Crystal Palace as they take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Saturday 29 October at 5:30pm. Viewers will be expecting fireworks when Everton visit Chelsea to take on the title hopefuls for a 5.30pm kick off on Saturday 5 November. The following day will see Arsenal host their rivals Tottenham Hotspur at midday, with the away side keen to gain revenge for Arsenal finishing above them in the Premier League last season. All of BT Sport’s matches broadcast on Saturday evenings will follow BT Sport’s new football results show, BT Sport Score. The show starts at 2:30pm and is presented by Mark Pougatch. He will be joined by a host of BT Sport pundits during the season including Robbie Savage, Jermaine Jenas and Harry Kewell. Following the November international break, Tottenham Hotspur will this time play host as they take on London rivals West Ham United on Saturday 19 November at 5:30pm. The final weekend in November will see BT Sport cover two matches. Lancashire clubs Burnley and Manchester City will set the ball rolling when they take each other on at 12:30pm on Saturday 26 November. The focus will then turn to Stamford Bridge as Chelsea play host at 5:30pm to fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur with both clubs attempting to improve on last season’s league standings. It looked much worse than was actually intended, and to be fair, it was Tottenham versus Arsenal at Highbury, not some Mickey Mouse game that didn’t matter [smiles]. Given the same situation now, I’d probably challenge the same way as I did then, although the funny thing about it was getting punished twice. As Charlie ran towards the ball I slid in to dispossess him, then ended up on the ground. Their physio ran over to me, landed on top and proceeded to punch me in the face.

Since the end of European imperialism, the English football club has been quietly colonising the minds of spectators everywhere, introducing them to cultural forms that had once been unique to England. Now a global phenomenon, the North London club has an estimated 113 million fans worldwide. Using Benedict Anderson’s concept of “imagined community,” I analyse the conditions that have enabled fans from Lagos to Los Angeles, and from Beijing to Bangalore, to identify with a sporting institution based in a country they may have never visited. To explore the paradoxes of this long- distance relationship, this article analyses information about Arsenal that appeared in newspapers, blogs, and social media websites from 2004 to 2014. The study concludes that, with the advent of digital technologies, Arsenal is simultaneously embedded in English culture and accessible to the millions of fans living in the interminable spaces beyond its country’s borders. In an age marked by constant social and technological change, fans find in the football club a universal community capable of contributing to their sense of ontological security.
