The dolls are all based on several monster movies, sci-fi characters, horror movie and other creatures. The first novel in the series was published inand Lisi Harrison wrote the title of the book. The original series was published until with Back and Deader Than Ever marking the series conclusion. Gitty Daneshvari wrote a follow-up series title Ghoulfriends. Also, there is also a nonfiction novel in the series titled Drop Dead Diary that was written by Abaghoul Harris. This is the first book in Monster High series. The story was authored by Lisi Harrison, a debut book with a fresh twist on romance, high school and Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever horrors of trying to fit in. They prefer to call themselves the Regular Attribute Dodgers RADbut some people call them monsters, and so far the monster society has kept a low profile in Salem, however this year, two girls enroll in monster high and the town will never be the same again. However, with the whole student governing body shocked out by the rumors of monsters who could be spying the halls, but Frankie finds out that the life in the normal world could be tough for a chic freak like her. This story starts out with Melody and her family relocating to California to Salem in Oregon because she has terrible asthma. She had just undergone a nose surgery that had made her pretty even though she still feels like a fraud. The story then switches Frankie Stein, a new student at Merston High, and only aged 15 days only. She is the granddaughter of Frankenstein, and she has to hide what she is and just fit into her new school. You will love the idea of monster children having descendants, and here you will find creatures such as Medusa, Dracula, and others. The characters are multidimensional, and detailed, this Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever enables the reader to have a depth and detailed understanding of the characters strengths and weaknesses. Melody Carver and Frankie Stein are the two main characters in this story, they are two opposites, and each one of them is the contrary of the other. Frankie is a monster and is not allowed to do some of the things that the typical teenagers do, on the other hand, Melody suffers from Asthma and worries about her appearance even after having undergone surgery. It is amazing to see how Frankie matures from being homeschooled and only knowing her parents her creators to Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever schools, making friends and appreciating the person she is and accepting that it is okay to be what she is. However, on the other hand, Melody was raised and later becomes more comfortable with herself too. The second book in Monster High series picks up where the first book ended. In Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever book, we find Melody still clueless on how to help her lunatic boyfriend named Jackson. We also meet Bekka, who constantly reminds Melody that she is running out of time via text messaging. Thankfully, Billy comes up with one ingenious plan to ensure that Frankie is kept hidden and also keep Jackson from having his dark secret exposed to the entire world. However, in a frenzy turn of events, Brett ends his relationship with Bekka and goes ahead to declare his love for Frankie on live television. However things begin to fall apart, Cleo a royal pain is determined Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever ensure that the video is shut down and also to get everyone not to trust Melody. On the other hand, Bekka is not far behind, and she with her sidekick will stop at nothing to prove to the whole world that monsters exist. The second series installment is told from three different points of views; from Frankie, Melody, and Cleo. Cleo is featured as a stuck up, arrogant, and a selfish character. However, what could you expect from a girl destined to be a queen? She is dethroned by Frankie and Melody, and in return, she does not rest until she is back to the top once again. Ghoulfriends Just Want to Have Fun: Ghoulfriends Forever is an adorable character with her new relationship with Brett. She is fierce, strong, and gusty. She is determined to ensure that all RADs are free from their self-imposed exile and join the monster world with the human world. Melody is learning to overcome her fears and stand up for herself. She is determined and trying to find her right footing, and she is stronger and accepting of herself. She is loyal, and you will love the role she plays in this excellent series. You will also like Billy, the invisible RAD; he is funny and such a prankster. He is also daring, sweet, and kind. He also narrates one of the chapters in the book. The great monster books are well written and entertaining to read; there is plenty of mentions of jewelry, shoe brands, clothes, makeup lines and grooming. Furthermore, there is a lot of boy fighting, the humor is good, and it is a fun light and a quick read. • 166 Chapter Four Racial Aggression & Boys' Toys Rock'em Sock'em
166 Chapter Four Racial Aggression & Boys’ Toys Rock’em Sock’em Robots is a classic children’s toy from the 1960s and 1970s. First introduced by Marx Toys in 1964, it featured a red robot known as the “Red Rocker” and a blue robot known as the “Blue Bomber.” With the help of two players to press buttons operating the boxers’ arms, the two robots would battle it out in a boxing ring until, as the television commercial described it, one robot’s “block is knocked off.”1 The toy is both in theme and action a boys’ toy, a toy designed to appeal to competitive and aggressive instincts associated with masculinity. Marx’s advertising for the toy emphasized boys’ attraction to Rock’em Sock’em Robots. A typical ad featured either two boys or a boy and his father enthusiastically playing with the toy. These television commercials highlighted the potential for male bonding over a toy in which boys could engage in physical competition, beating each other up by proxy. Because operating the toy did not require any actual physical strength, just the ability to press buttons, it was an ideal medium for masculine expression without an adult boxer’s muscles. As sociologist R.W. Connell has pointed out, “sporting prowess is a test of masculinity even for boys who detest the locker room.”2 With Rock’em Sock’em Robots even the scrawniest of boys could assert his manliness by winning a round in the ring. Though the goal of the toy is to pummel an opponent, as far as “violent” or “aggressive” boy toys go, Rock’em Sock’em Robots is not particularly alarming.
