DYFED WYN EVANS

Baritone

Dyfed Wyn Evans is a professional baritone from Cardiff in South Wales. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and the Vienna Conservatoire.

Awards during his studies included a Peter Moores Foundation Scholarship, a Ryan Davies Memorial Scholarship and a D'Oyly Carte Opera Award. He was also a winner of the Gwilym Gwalchmai Jones Prize.

For Opera he has played L’Eshyi Cherevichki, Fiorello Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Konecný in Osud as well as having covered Premyslin Sárka, Balthasar in Genoveva and Mastricco in Le Pescatricci.

During 4 seasons at roles included Alidoro La Cenerentola, Sulpice La Fille du Regiment, Don Fernando Fidelio and the Doctor Macbeth.

He has sung the Podestat Le Docteur Miracle for the Voray Festival Besançon, Antonio for , Angelo Gli Equivocci for the Batignano Festival (Tuscany) and LesboAgrippina at St John's, Smith Square.

For the European Voices and Simon Rattle he has sung Bernstein’s Wonderful Town (Berlin), (Berlin/Lucerne/Salzburg Festival), Brahms’ Requiem (Cologne/London) and Peter Grimes (Salzburg Festival/Berlin). For the Choir of the Age of Enlightenment: Dido & Aeneas (London/Maastricht) and Bach’s B Minor Mass (London/Madrid/San Sebastian).

Other companies worked for include Opéra National de Lorraine, Nationale Reisopera, De Vlaamse Opera, The Buxton Festival, Welsh National Opera, English National Opera, Opera North and Raymond Gubbay Ltd at the Albert Hall.

Dyfed is married to the mezzo soprano Carolyn Jackson. They live in a village outside Cardiff with their two sons Osian & Gwydion.
