Keegan Cup County Champions Managers Reflections from Ciaron Byrne Sunday was a day that will live long in the memory of everyone involved with Senior Squad. It was a fantastic achievement. On behalf of all the players and management team, I would like to thank everyone for the best wishes in the run up to the final, and to those who turned up in such great numbers at the clubhouse to welcome us home with the Keegan Cup. After the disappointment of previous years, it was great to see this group of dedicated players finally get their just rewards. With such a young talented squad and lots more players coming through our underage teams, lets hope this is only the first of many more titles to come. We hope to see and hear you all on Sunday 28th @1.30 in Wexford

Captains Reflections from Cathal Finn As the celebrations come to a close, I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone on behalf of the team. The support that the community has shown us over the last number of weeks has been overwhelming. It was a huge honour for us to finally bring the Keegan Cup back to Dunboyne and it is a memory we will all cherish forever. However, our season is not over yet. All our focus is now on our Leinster championship game versus the Wexford champions. Hopefully you will all get behind us as we pursue further success.

St Peters GAA Club Notes th 19 October 2018

Hat Trick Hero

In 1998, 2005 and now 2018 the ever young David Gallagher was on all 3 winning teams and played in a different position on all 3 occasions. That’s 3 County Championship medals in 3 decades for David - what a huge achievement

Brothers in Arms

We have 4 sets of Brothers on our winning Senior Football Team – the Jones’s, Mc Entee’s, Lowndes’s and Lavin’s.

GAA is your DNA !!

Like Father like Son

We also have 2 sets of fathers & sons –

Liam Byrne and his Dad Ciaron (3 time Club Champion himself !! and now Team Manager ) along with Stuart and Craig Lowdnes and their Dad John.

Also not forgetting Cathal Finn whose Dad Paul led the club to JFC in 1989 and IFC 1992 success and David and Shane Mc Entees Dad Andy who was part of the 1998 and 2005 team.

School Connections

On Monday morning after a fantastic night of celebrations our local school were

the first point of call for our Senior Footballers. The team first visited the Gaelscoil where they were greeted with a huge reception from all the kids. Niall Jones son Charlie was among the many kids who got to meet their heroes and also got to hold the Keegan Cup. It was on to Dunboyne SPS from there where the team got another fantastic reception and Mr Lyons was delighted to welcome back many of his past pupils who began their football under his guidance. The biggest cheer of all in both schools was definitely kept for Shane Mc Entees announcement of NO HOMEWORK.

New Kids on the Block Liam Byrne , Sean Ryan and Michael Murphy have progressed very quickly into the Senior ranks and this is in no small part thanks to the influence of Ger

Robinson at both Club and County level. Ger himself is a selector on the Senior Team and recently had success as manager of the Junior A Championship winning team also. The future is bright will all the young talent filtering up through from underage sections. 2 interesting statistics – at least 12 of the Senior Team went thru the nursery and approx s45 of the 60 players between the Junior A and Senior team came thru the nursery also. Sean Murphys dedication to the nursery has definitely born fruit.

Monday in Bradys

The lads paid a visit to Bradys on Monday afternoon and were delighted to take a group photo in tribute to Sean Nealon who passed away last week and was a great supporter of St Peters Gaa Club.
