SUPER CARLY - John Carlson scored a power play goal Monday against Boston, extending his point streak to seven games (3g, 6a). Carlson's current point streak is two games shy of his career record (9 games, 10/8/19-10/24/19: 5g, 13a). - Carlson ranks fourth among NHL defensemen in points (11) through games played Feb. 2. - Carlson recently passed Dale Hunter (375) for the fifth-most assists in franchise history and now sits at 380 assists, 12 assists shy of Mike Gartner (392) for the fourth most assists in franchise history. - Carlson is now five goals shy of passing both Mike Green (113) and Calle Johansson (113) for the third-most goals in franchise history by a defenseman. - During the 2019-20 season, Carlson set personal highs for points (15g, 60a) and assists in a season, leading all NHL defensemen in both respective categories. - Carlson’s 60 assists last season were one shy of tying the franchise record for the most by a defenseman in a single season (Scott Stevens, 1988-89: 61a), and his 75 points were six shy of the record (Larry Murphy, 1986-87: 81).

BIG WILLY - Tom Wilson's six game-point streak (4g, 4a) came to an end Monday against Boston. It tied for the second-longest point streak in his career (eight games, 11/21/18-2/2/18: 7g, 6a; six games, 1/13/20-1/31/20: 3g 4a). - Wilson's eight points in eight games this season are tied with Jakub Vrana for the third-most on the Capitals. - Wilson is tied with Garnet Hathaway for the team lead in hits (35) and ranks tied for seventh in the NHL through games played Feb. 2. - Among players with at least eight games played, Wilson ranks tied for fifth in the NHL in shooting percentage (33.3 percent) and second in 5v5 on-ice shooting percentage (19.5 percent).

GELLING LINE - Forwards Carl Hagelin, Nic Dowd and Garnet Hathaway have played together for 98:49 minutes of five-on-five this season, the most of any Capitals forward combo. - The trio has outscored opponents 5-3 at five-on-five (62.50 goals for percentage), recorded 39 scoring chances and allowed 27 (59.09 scoring chance for percentage) while matched up against the opposition’s top lines. In addition, they have generated 14 high-danger shot attempts while allowing 10 (58.33 high-danger attempts for percentage). The line has been on the ice for a Capitals goal at five-on-five in four of the last five games. - Since joining the Capitals in 2018, Dowd’s 61.8 goals for percentage (55 goals for, 34 against) at even strength over the last three seasons is tied for the third-highest percentage among NHL forwards with at least 100 games. Hathaway's 60.4 goals for percentage (58 for, 38 against) during that same span ranks 13th among forwards, while Hagelin's 55.9 goals for percentage (76 for, 60 against) is tied for 48th.

HEAVY HITTERS - The Capitals 270 hits this season rank fifth in the NHL through games played Feb. 2. - Additionally, the Capitals rank third in the NHL in hits per 60 minutes of play (26.27). - The Capitals are just one of three teams (Anaheim, Vancouver) in the NHL with five players that rank in the top 50 in hits this season (Tom Wilson: 35, Garnet Hathaway: 35, Richard Panik: 25, Brenden Dillon: 22, T.J. Oshie: 21).

ROAD WARRIORS - The Capitals have earned six out of a possible eight points in four road games this season. Their .750 win percentage on the road ranks tied for fourth in the NHL. - Last season, the Capitals posted a 23-10-3 record on the road, good for the second most wins and points (49) in the NHL. - Alex Ovechkin has scored 360 of his 708 career goals (51.4) percent on the road, including 21 goals in 31 games at Madison Square Garden.

PLAYING AHEAD - The Capitals have only trailed for 49:52 minutes in their 10 combined games, the lowest total in the NHL among teams with at least 8 games played. - Through games played Feb. 2, the Capitals' 37 goals are the fourth-most in the NHL and their 27 goals scored during five-on-five play rank tied for third.
