Stopping the Run Purdue’s defense limited Ohio State to 76 yards rushing on Oct. 20 The run-stoppage marked the fourth time this season that Purdue’s D has held an opponent to double digits on the ground, and the ninth time in 22 games to do so under second-year head coach Jeff Brohm’s staff.

Brothers in Arms When Jacob and Brennan Thieneman took the fi eld together against No. 23 Boston College on Sept. 22, it marked the fi rst time in 16 years that a pair of Boilermaker brothers shared the fi eld at the same time. Century Mark WYA? Brycen Hopkins’ 103 receiving yards against Nebraska on Sept. 29 marked his second 100-yard receiving game of the season (also 136 vs. Missouri). He is the fi rst Purdue tight end to reach triple-digit yards On the Sidelines through the air more than once in a season since did so three times in 2007.

Staying on Schedule The Boilermakers have been very successful when playing in front of the chains this season. This or That In Purdue’s 49-20 win over No. 2 Ohio State on Oct. 20, there were apparently only two options for the Boilermakers - score a touchdown or punt. It Doesn’t Happen Very Often When D.J. Knox (152) and Markell Jones (109) both topped the century mark in rushing yards against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 8, it was the fi rst time a pair of Boilermakers went for 100-plus yards in the same game since 2002 (Brandon Jones, 131, and Joey Harris, 102). It was merely the 27th time in school history that the feat has been accomplished and only the fi fth time in the last 35 years. We Want Moore True freshman Rondale Moore became a household name when he electrifi ed the nation with a record-breaking performance in his collegiate debut against Northwestern on Aug. 30. With a FBS-best 313 all-purpose yards against the Wildcats (79 rushing, 109 receiving, 125 kickoff return), Moore eclipsed Otis Armstrong’s single game school record of 312 yards set Nov. 25, 1972. Moore had a huge fi rst half, racking up 302 all-purpose yards in the initial 30 minutes. That alone would have placed him third in the Purdue record book. With the Boilermakers trailing 14-0 in the fi rst 10 minutes of the opening quarter, Moore hauled in a 32-yard touchdown reception from Elijah Sindelar and ripped off a 76-yard scoring run to even the score before the quarter ended.

More on Moore Rondale Moore is the fi rst freshman (true or redshirt) in school history to make his Boilermaker debut with a 100-yard receiving game. Moore hauled in a game-high 11 receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in his fi rst collegiate game against Northwestern … His reception total was the highest by any player in the Big Ten on the opening week of and his yardage tally was second to only Ohio State’s Terry McLaurin’s 121 vs. Oregon State … Moore’s 76-yard touchdown in the fi rst quarter against Northwestern was the longest run by a Boilermaker since Akeem Hunt went 82 yards to the house at Indiana on Nov. 29, 2014 … Moore’s average of 8.2 receptions per game is fi rst in the FBS and Big Ten … Moore ranks third in the FBS and fi rst in the Big Ten with an average of 170.8 all-purpose yards per game ... Moore is third in the nation and fi rst in the Big Ten with 74 total receptions on the year … His 833 receiving yards for the season are second among all Big Ten players and 15th nationally ... Iron Man Junior linebacker Markus Bailey has been a mainstay in Purdue’s lineup over the last three season. The Columbus, Ohio, native has started 32 consecutive games for Purdue and rarely, if ever, takes a defensive snap off. After leading Purdue in tackles as a redshirt freshman (97) in 2018 and placing second on the team last season (89), Bailey currently paces the Boilers with 77 total stops in 2018.

Maxwell Award Semifi nalist Rondale Moore has been named a semifi nalist for the Maxwell Award. Moore has held the football 119 times in his young nine-game collegiate career and is averaging 12.9 yards per touch. He has 74 receptions for a team-leading 833 yards, 11 carries for 163 yards, 24 kick returns for 459 yards and 10 punt returns for 82 yards entering the Minnesota game. Moore has 23 plays of 20 or more yards this season, including a 76-yard touchdown rush and a 70-yard scoring reception. Moore’s 74 receptions are the most for a Boilermaker in a season since Keith Smith had 91 in 2009. Bailey leads the Boilermakers with 77 total tackles, 52 solo, with six tackles for loss. His 3.5 sacks ties for second on the team. He had a career-high 15 total tackles and returned an interception 41 yards for a touchdown against his hometown team, No. 2 Ohio State, on Oct. 20.

Wuerffel Trophy Semifi nalist David Blough was named a semifi nalist for the Wuerffel Trophy, which promotes itself as college football’s premier award for community service. With his outstanding credentials on the fi eld, Blough has been just as impressive off the fi eld - on campus, in the local community and internationally. A leader of the Purdue chapter of the Fellowship of the Christian Athletes, he volunteers for nearly all team-related community service projects in and around the West Lafayette area. Perhaps most notable are his seven trips to an AIDS orphanage in South Africa during his fi ve years at Purdue, including all fi ve of his spring breaks as a Boilermaker being occupied for the missionary trips. On the fi eld, Blough enters the Minnesota game ninth nationally and second in the Big Ten in passing yards (2,663), 12th in the FBS and second in the B1G in passing yards per game (298.1) and 28th in the nation and second in the conference with 17 passing touchdowns.

Sneaky Schopper Senior Joe Schopper has quietly moved his was up among the national leaders in punting. Topping the Big Ten and placing 19th nationally, the fourth-year Boilermaker is averaging 44.1 yards per kick this season. Punting 37 times for 1,631 yards, he has placed 13 kicks inside the opposition’s 20-yard line, seen 19 fair caught and booted 10 of his punts over 50 yards.

Not Your Average Walkon Safety Jacob Thieneman has come a long way from his days as a scout team walkon. The fi fth-year senior was voted captain by his teammate prior to the season and he has put together a solid fi nal season in the Old Gold and Black. Starting all nine games thus far, he is second on the team with 71 total tackles on the year. He leads the Boilermakers with fi ve sacks and is second with seven tackles for loss. He has broken up fi ve passes and blocked a fi eld goal against No. 23 Boston College, to boot.
