Participate in a beach clean-up

Help reduce the negative effects of pollution on marine and aquatic life while also enjoying the outdoors by doing a beach clean-up! The California Coastal Commission is a great resource for finding and/or planning a beach clean-up day.

Consider snacking on foods that come without all of the packaging, such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Look for foods that come in packaging that can be recycled or composted.

Support small local businesses and farmers’ markets.

The Santa Clara Farmers’ Market is open on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm at Franklin Mall.

At the end of every quarter, you can donate excess dining points or nonperishable goods to the Second Harvest Food Bank. If you accumulate any library fines, the library will also accept “Food for Fines” at the end of the school year!

California Academy of Sciences The California Academy of Sciences is much more than a tech museum - with one ticket you can also check out the aquarium, planetarium, natural history museum, and rainforest exhibit. There’s no better way to be an explorer for a day!
