Trainer Minor said he didn’t give Brennan any instruc- tions. “He knows the horse. JEREME’S JET FILLY TOPS LEXINGTON SATURDAY The Lexington Selected Yearling sale resumed last night with a fourth session showcasing a total of 163 yearlings. Taking top honors was Hip 459, a filly from the first crop of the World Champion Jereme’s Jet, selling for $92,000. Purchased by Casie Coleman from the Hunteron Farm’s consignment, the filly is a half-sister to Clos Pegase (Sportsmaster), who made over $350,000 racing. The average on the night was $20,200, down 11.8 per- cent from the corresponding 2009 figure. “It’s been what we’ve expected, maybe even a little better,” sales manager Geoff Stein said in his evaluation of the evening’s numbers. “It’s a tough marketplace. But the general attitude among buyers and sellers is positive.” Although numbers were down, buyers were still willing to reach into their pocketbooks to get what they wanted, as the 46 pacing colts that were offered topped the averages at $21,348. “When you forget the comparison, and just talk about the sale, the sale has been good,” Stein noted. “I think people are showing that they have a little bit of a sense of confi- dence in this industry, because this sale has shown when they want something, they go get it.” The sale has realized an average yearling price of $38,752 through four sessions. The Lexington Selected Yearling sale concludes its 2010 renewal today with 225 yearlings on offer. Note that selling beings at 12:00 p.m., differing from the usual 7 p.m. start time.

Red Mile recap (cont.) Lucky Chucky trotted up outside of Muscle Massive HARNESS HORSE BREEDERS OF NEW YORK around the last turn, but was unable to mount a serious threat to Wishing Stone. In the drive down the homestretch, CONGRATULATE NY-BRED Lucky Chuck faded and Wishing Stone sprinted clear of his RECORD-SETTING FILLIES pursuers. Muscle Massive claimed second while Breeders Crown winner Break The Bank K rallied for third. Lucky Chucky faded to fifth. The time was 1:52.3 and Wishing Stone’s margin was 1-1/2 lengths. Winning Fireworks, ninth in the first heat, was scratched from the second heat, so that left a field of nine to face the starter in the second heat. Break The Bank K was made the favorite by the crowd of 3,000 at The Red Mile on a picture-perfect autumn afternoon. Temple Of Doom and driver David Miller left alertly from post nine to grab the early lead with Muscle Massive sitting SEE YOU AT PEELERS (Bettor's Delight) second and Wishing Stone third. Since Temple Of Doom had made a break in the first heat, Ron Pierce didn’t want to be sitting behind him with Mus- cle Massive, so he moved to the front soon after the opening quarter in :27. Brennan let Muscle Massive set- tle on the lead and then he stepped on the gas with Wishing Stone and the little trotter zoomed past the much bigger Hambletonian winner. Behind Muscle Massive, Temple Of Doom went offstride. MARTINIONTHEROCKS (Conway Hall) Brennan eased Wishing Stone around the turn, repulsing a bid from He’s A Demon and waiting for George Brennan, the anticipated stretch challenges. Dewayne Minor in the Wishing Stone knew what to do floral chair when he entered the homestretch. Dean Hoffman photo He took aim on the finish line, keeping Muscle Massive behind him and having more than enough to withstand late chal- lenges from Lucky Chucky and Break The Bank K. Trainer Dewayne Minor said that although Wishing Stone had usually raced from off the pace, he wasn’t concerned about Brennan putting the colt on the lead early in each IMPRESSIVE KEMP (Credit Winner) heat. “He’s a tough little guy to beat when he gets to the front,” said Minor. THERE ARE 138 NEW YORK-BRED YEARLINGS Wishing Stone was timed in 1:51.2 as he won by 1-3/4 TO CHOOSE FROM IN THE lengths. Wishing Stone raced twice at The Red Mile last year in LEXINGTON SELECTED SALE! October and won both races easily. His two victories in the Kentucky Futurity give him a perfect four-for-four slate at the famous oval. Wishing Stone has won only seven times in 21 starts over two seasons. He’s been better known as check-getter than a trophy-getter. He was second in the recent Breeders Crown, third in the Hambletonian, and fourth in the Colonial. (Cont.
