Something I’ve never really written about in this column is the humble ticket book. Modern-day football supporters are used to getting into the ground by paying at the gate or showing a plastic card to the attendant (perhaps having a hole punched out of that card). But in days gone by, club members would be issued a book full of tear-out tickets at the start of the year. These would be used to get into the ground, so you didn’t want to lose them. The same system was used at most of the WAFL and VFL grounds for many years.
