Would you like to be confirmed? We're running an online course via Zoom, which will start in the Spring. The course will prepare you for moving forward as a Christian, and after your confirmation you can take Holy Communion in a church service. We hope that this will be a good time of learning together, and encouragement for anyone who would like to take part. It's never too late to say 'yes' to God, so if you are interested, please contact the Parish Office or email Angela on; [email protected]

Confirmation is the next step for many on their Christian journey. It's a moment when you can say 'yes' yourself to God.

Care & Support

Over the years volunteers in our villages have helped many people but we have not had many requests for assistance since we went into "lockdown mode" last March. Thanks for your generous hearts Angela Hannafin

There was a fantastic response to our Reverse Advent Calendar project. Thank you to all who contributed. As you may remember, the idea was to either donate a non-perishable food item per day to the Vicarage, or collect a box of food to be donated at the end of December. The parish responded so enthusiastically that we took several car loads of food to St Aidan's in Harehills. Mother Andi Hofbauer, Priest of St Aidan's has sent her heartfelt thanks for your generosity and in November our parish was recognised with the award of a Lord Mayor's Certificate of Appreciation, in recognition for our community engagement with St Aidan's. Jacob and Alfie lending a hand I was invited to attend a special Zoom session, along with other organisations in the city, who had been thanked for their work. The Lord Mayor, Cllr Eileen Taylor, spoke of the importance of working together to reach out at this difficult time. We've now organised two more drop off points for the Food Share, in Mill Lane and the Congreves. And will continuing to support it until the need has receded. Right now it's still as vital as ever. So thanks for your support and all you are doing.

Telephone Box Library Brenda Sanderson

Two years ago the redundant telephone box in Church Lane was converted into a library by Bardsey Parish Council, who approached Bardsey Women’s Institute to look after it. The library has proved to be very popular and when Covid-19 struck, a year ago it was decided to leave the library open and see if it was used. It has been used even more, so while many are restricted in their activities, reading has become a lifeline. The Women’s Institute are grateful to Val Hobbs for keeping the library tidy and supplied with books. Fiction books and children’s books are most popular. Technical books don’t tend to be taken and they take up a lot of space, so we prefer not to have them. Delivery men are often seen perusing the reading matter on their rounds.
