CALLING ATTENTION NOTICE

20. SHEIKH SALAHUDDIN MR. MUHAMMAD MUZAMMIL QURESHI DR. MR. ABDUL WASEEM MR. MEHBOOB ALAM to invite attention of the Minister for Water and Power to a matter of urgent public importance regarding approval granted by Left over National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to Karachi Electric (K.E.) to increase price of electricity @ 25 paisas per unit and over charging of rupees 62 Billion from the consumers by K.E.,

causing grave concern amongst the public.

RESOLUTION

The following resolution was unanimously passed by the National Assembly:-

“This House:

Reiterates its unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right of self- determination in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the UN Charter, including the provision of political, diplomatic and moral support to the people of IOK in the just struggle for self–determination.

2. Salutes the courage, valor and commitment of successive generations of Kashmiri people for their ongoing struggle for self determination as promised to them by the international community in UNSC resolutions.

3. Rejects the Indian Government’s ridiculous claims that Kashmir is an integral part of India when India itself took the Kashmir dispute to the UNSC thereby accepting it as an international dispute between two sovereign UN members.

This House condemns: 4. The state terrorism perpetrated by Indian occupation forces against the unarmed Kashmiri civilians in Indian Occupied Kashmir, including women and children, which has led to martyrdom of thousands of innocent Kashmiris;

5. The use of pellet guns to deliberately blind unarmed Kashmiris, including women and children in clear violence of the international treaties against the use of inhumane weapons of war including the Geneva Convention of 1949, their Additional Protocols I & II and International Humanitarian Law;

6. The continued use of draconian laws against the Kashmiris and recurring curfew in IOK which have aggravated the miseries of the local population and which are in clear violation of all international human rights conventions;

7. This House deplores the continuing silence of the section of the international community, including human rights advocates, on the ongoing violence perpetrated by the Indian occupations forces in IOK against unarmed civilians, including women and children and calls on:

i. the UNSC to take concrete steps for the implementation of its resolutions for the right of self-determination for the Kashmiri people as done so in other parts of the world; ii. the international community takes note of the gross human rights violations in IOK at the hands of the Indian security forces and urges India to respect the human rights of the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, including the right to self determination. iii. the UNSC to call upon India to let the UNMOGIP fulfill its mandated tasks as per the UNSC resolutions in IOK.
