Our club has had a great start to the 2016 season, with three wins on the trot for our seniors and our reserves, and sitting on top of the league table in both seniors and reserves. The club has secured the final component of our funding towards the new club rooms. At last Saturday’s home game, The Hnr. John Eren, Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Sport, and Veterans, announced new funding of $100,000.00 towards our women’s change rooms. This brings the total amount of funding to $450,000.00 from State and Local Government, with the remainder1 in kind contribution from the club. 6 15 Feature Story: Dylan Nikolovski – Murray United FC GSC 2016 Home & Away Fixture

Dylan Nikolovski – Murray United FC

The Geelong youngster has made news with significant football achievements. Former Geelong Soccer Club teenager, Dylan Nikolovski, signed with NPL outfit Murray United FC as first choice goalkeeper.

Having started his career at Stead Park, Dylan fancied himself as a striker. It wasn’t until he turned 12 that he realised goalkeeping might be for him as it required less running. So he decided to take up that role instead, and has never looked back.

Having started his senior career at the age of 15, he was soon invited to Birmingham City FC to trial in 2015. He was invited back in early 2015; however a shoulder Injury prevented his return.

Working hard for the next two years to refine his skills and regain his fitness with goalkeeping coach Paul Harvey, Dylan went to play for his local club Geelong in Victorian State League 2, whilst twice a week driving to Melbourne to meet with Harvey for intense coaching work, training in sun, wind, hail and rain. This put Dylan in position to travel to Europe in July 2015 where he was signed by FK Rabotnicki. Dylan was scouted by Greek Second Division side Agrotikos Asteras FC where he signed a contract for 2016.

Dylan soon found that he was homesick, and decided to return to Australia, after only a short stay in Greece. On his return, he was snapped up by NPL outfit Murray United, as first team goalkeeper.

We wish Dylan all the best on his journey, and hopefully one day he makes a return to Europe.
