Nebraska’s lone win of the season came on Oct. 6 at Missouri State (156-87) before two home losses February to Big 12 leaders Texas and Texas A&M, meets that were sandwiched around a fifth-place finish in the Big 12 14-17 Big 12 Championships^ TBA (College Station, Texas) Relays. Arkansas (0-1) has not competed for two weeks as well after opening the season with a 149-89 loss March at South Carolina on Oct. 13. 2-4 NCAA Zone Diving Championships TBA Senior Lauren Bailey picked up where she left off last season as she has already attained a team-high 8-10 NCAA Championships TBA six wins in 2006-07. For her efforts, she was named the Big 12 women’s swimmer of the week, announced (Minneapolis, Minn.) Wednesday by the league office. Against Texas on Oct. 12, Bailey set an NCAA provisional-qualifying time All times listed are Central. of 16:48.46 in the 1,650-freestyle. In the first meet of the season at Missouri State, Bailey won three races ^- Denotes Big 12 Conference matches. (200-free, 500-free and 200-IM). Most recently, she won the 1,000-free (10:10.15) against Texas A&M on Oct. Home meets are in all caps and bold. 14 and also finished runner-up in the 500-free (4:59.28), just eight one-hundredths of a second behind senior teammate Kate Wheeler. On the previous day at the Big 12 Relays, Bailey was a member of the fourth-place 2006-07 Nebraska Cornhuskers finishing 1,500-free relay team. Highlands Ranch, Colo. The loss drops the Huskers to 1-2 on the young season and 0-2 in the Big 12 after facing two of the nation’s Mariah Hutchinson Fr. Topeka, Kan. top teams in the Aggies and Texas Longhorns. Bailey Ingles Sr. Omaha, Neb. Nebraska looked to stay competitive early when senior Lauren Bailey took the meet’s longest event, the Courtney Jolly So. Plantation, Fla. 1,000-free, in 10:10.15, four seconds faster than Missouri’s Jill Granger (10:14.61).
