The Longest Day games will be played both online and (thankfully) in person this year at participating clubs to help raise funds benefiting the Alzheimer's Association. Congrats goes to Unit 174 member Dan Morse of Team Bramley for winning the D16 GNT Championship Flight on May 22. They next compete in the Grand National Team Finals to be held online in July. Competitive Bidding Tuesdays 10:00 to 12:00, June 15 - July 20 (6 weeks) This 6-week class covers the information needed when both partnerships are bidding during the auction. Players want to get to the best contract but also want to make it difficult for the opponents to reach their best spot. This class introduces innovative methods of hand valuation and the bids that experts use in competitive situations. Popular Conventions Tuesdays 1:00 to 3:00, June 15 - July 20 (6 weeks) This 6-week class covers responding to a 1NT opening bid, the importance of the 4-4 Major Suit fit, and the Stayman Convention with other considerations. Using the Jacoby Transfer, when to use Stayman vs Transfers, signing off in a minor suit and inviting to game in a minor suit. Strong opening bids and responding to 2 club openers, opener’s re- bid; opening 2NT, responses and rebids. Slam bidding: determining how high and where; when to use Blackwood; Gerber; and Roman Key Card Blackwood.
