Test your chess against one of the best in the world Grand Master Hikaru Nakamura FIDE World Championship Contender! Friday, May 9 th 6:30pm GM Hikaru Nakamura was born in Japan but moved with his family to the united states at an early age. Hikaru eclipsed Bobby Fischer by becoming the youngest ever US Grand Master at the age of 15 and reached the top 16 in the FIDE world Championship the following year. With a fide rating of 2686 Hikaru has been ranked the top player in the United States. He recently won the 2008 Gibraltar Open after beating China’s Bu Xiangzhi in the play off. Hikaru is visiting Vancouver and has agreed to play a simultaneous exhibition in support of BC Junior Chess. A minimum donation of $20 to the Chess for Children Foundation gives you the chance to test your skill in this historic event. The date is Friday May 9 th starting at 6:30 The place is the Richmond Community Center Library, 180-7700 Minoru Gate , behind Richmond Center Mall. Seats are limited to the first 30 players. PreRegistration is Required on line at; http://www.bjdy.com/juniorchess/GM_simul.html There will be a waiting list for any boards that may come available. Rules: -Be there on time or risk losing your seat to the waiting list. -You will be required to make your move when Hikaru comes to your board. You are allowed 3 passes if you are not ready to move.
