1) ABOUT TEARDROP

Singer songwriter and guitarist Newton Faulkner arranged Teardrop for solo guitar and voice for a Radio 2 appearance in which he had been asked to prepare a cover song. His version soon became popular and made it onto his first album, as well as being released as his 4th single.

2) THE GUITAR PART FOR TEARDROP

The song contains a constant RH percussive groove. The first note of each bar requires the RH to play 2 bass notes with the thumb and first finger whilst simultaneously making a Bass Drum hit with the heel of the hand.

Flick Snare: The snare sound is created by flicking the top of the guitar with the first or second finger of the RH. A harsher sound can be created by flicking the edge of the sound-hole; however, Newton Faulkner strikes the guitar top instead: this gives more of a knocking sound.

The guitar part for this song is composed of quite separate right and left-hand guitar parts. Try learning them separately before putting them together. For example, you could try it in this order.
