Want to take a longer trek? Challenge yourself to Walk 54 New York City blocks in September 13th! About 20 blocks equals a mile, so you’d end up with about 2.7 miles walked. Here’s are some fun facts for you about New York City blocks.

A Few Other Ideas to Get Active On Walk Day

• Bike instead of walk. Wear your gear, deck out your bikes and hit the 1,250 miles of bike lanes in New York City

• Take the kids for a stroller ride of a shorter scoot for part of any of the suggested borough routes. We’ve tried hard to choose paths that are flat, paved and accessible

• We can help you set up an interval workout with 1 minute and 54 second circuits

• Take a 54(ish) mile drive out of the city for a Fall picnic to celebrate (bonus points to you if you then find a 1.54-mile route to walk or hike)

• Find a route or a park that works best for you. These aren’t the only places you can Walk, so you can do your own thing. Google says there are 1,700 parks in NYC!
