Oregon wins the Pac-12’s automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Tonight’s attendance of 5,387 was the second most in Tournament history for a final game (6,829 in 2017).

This was the Ducks first title game appearance. They are the third team to win the conference’s championship (outright or shared) and Tournament title in the same season (Stanford, 10 times and Oregon State, once).

This was the 8th time the Tournament’s #1 and #2 seeds have met. The #1 seed has won 7 of the matchups.

MOP scored 36 points, the most in her career (35, vs. OSU, 1/19/18) and in a Tournament championship game (30, Candice Wiggins, Stanford vs. Cal, 3/10/08). It was the 2nd (tie) most scored in any Tournament game (37, , Stan vs. OSU, 3/3/02; 36, Nikki Blue, UCLA vs. ASU, 3/5/05)

Oregon’s 11 3-point field goals tonight were a Tournament title game record (9, Stanford vs. UCLA, 3/6/06). The Ducks’ 33 triples for the Tournament were also a record (28, Stanford, 2004)

Oregon is now 26-1 when leading at the half. Its margin of victory (20) was the most suffered by Stanford to a conference opponent this season.

The first personal foul of the game was called at 1:51 of the first quarter (Ionescu, Oregon). The Cardinal hit 6 of their first 7 attempts to take a 13-6 lead. The Ducks held them to 1 of 9 for the balance of the quarter to take a 18-17 lead into the break.

Ionescu’s basket at 8:10 of the 2Q gave her 17 points, equal to Stanford’s 17 at that time. Stanford’s Brittany McPhee scored her 10th point of the game at 6:51, equaling her output in the previous 2 Tournament games. Oregon’s defense caused 7 Cardinal turnovers in the 2Q and limited Stanford to only 7 field goal attempts (3 of 7).
