Wilson Ph.D. October 2017 Using social constructivist grounded theory to explore how people come to use hospice day care services: a theory of transience and transition By: Fiona M Wilson A thesis submitted for the partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy Faculty of Medicine School of Nursing & Midwifery October 2017 Volume 1 Abstract Using social constructivist grounded theory to explore how people come to use hospice day care services: a theory of transience and transition Background: Choice and autonomy are key principles within palliative care in the UK and are enshrined within a number of health policy documents from 2008 onwards. However, it is unclear how people enact choice around their end of life care, particularly with regard to using hospice services. Aim: This study aims to explore patient, carer and staff perceptions of choice and decision-making in accessing a hospice day unit. Method: This study uses a social constructivist approach to grounded theory to explore perspectives. Fifteen patients and six carers participated in one-to-one semi- structured interviews using a PICTOR approach. Twenty staff, including hospice and referring staff, participated in nine one-to-one interviews and two focus groups. Transcribed interviews were analysed using an iterative process of coding, memoing, and development of core categories. Results: The overarching theme of ‘transience and transition’ captures that access to a hospice day unit is an uncertain and transient journey, with the ultimate transition being death.

    2011-01-27 14:00 CET September på vårturné med nytt album I vår åker September äntligen ut på turné i Sverige med start på Berns i Stockholm den 16 mars. Septembers ”Mikrofonkåt” från tv-succén ”Så mycket bättre” toppar sedan tio veckor tillbaka singellistan och var den låt som låg flest veckor på förstaplatsen förra året. Tillsammans med Petter innehar hon även listans tredjeplats med nya hiten ”Baksmälla”. Den 16 februari släpps Septembers fjärde album ”Love CPR”. Första singeln är radiohiten ”Resuscitate Me”. September har med hits som “Satellites”, “Can’t Get Over” och “Cry For You” etablerat sig som en av Sveriges största musikexporter som toppat listor och turnerat över hela världen. Över en halv miljon singlar av ”Cry for you” har sålts USA vilket gjorde September till den första svenska artist som sålt guld i USA på mer än tio år. I höstas gjorde hon stor succé här hemma med sin medverkan i ”Så mycket bättre” i TV 4. Hennes tolkningar av låtar av Petter, Lasse Berghagen, Eldkvarn och Thomas Di Leva har fått enorm uppmärksamhet och i vår åker hon på en efterlängtad längre turné i Sverige September slog igenom 2003 med låten "La, La, La (Never Give It Up)". 2004 kom debutalbumet "September" och året därpå den hyllade uppföljaren "In Orbit" som vann en Grammis för "Årets klubb/dans". 2007 släpptes ”Dancing Shoes” och den 16 februari kommer Septembers fjärde album ”Love CPR”.
