Building Success Together

Weekly Newsletter W/e 27th April 2018

Welcome We would like to say a big ‘welcome’ to Logan in Nursery, Bobby-Lee in Reception and Scarlett in Class 5. We wish them well and hope they are very happy in our school.

DARE

Today, Year 6 graduated from the DARE programme. The pupils presented their learning to parents in role plays, reports and sang the DARE song. They were then presented with their graduation certificates by DARE officer Nickie. Thank you to everyone who came today and a huge ‘well done’ to the children for becoming ‘Mini DARE Officers’.

Parking We would like to respectfully remind you that parking on the drive leading into the school must only be on one side of the road so that emergency vehicles can still easily access the site. May we also remind you that it is very unsafe to park on the bends at the top of the road, it severely limits visibility and makes it dangerous for children and parents walking to school. We encourage you to use the village hall car park and to walk across the field.

House names Thank you all for sending in your brilliant suggestions for House names, after much deliberation at this week’s staff meeting it was decided that we would use "Great Britons" and link them to British Values.

We would now welcome suggestions of "Great British" people.

The British Values are:

 Democracy  The rule of law  Individual liberty  Mutual respect  Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith An example might be Churchill for democracy.

We will be designing our scarecrows for the and Welham Scarecrow Festival this year as the people that we choose.

Please pop your suggestions in the Chatterbox in the middle corridor or email them to [email protected]

Absence Just a polite reminder that any absence needs reporting to the school so that we know where the children are and the reason for their absence as we have to allocate them a code in the register. You can either ring the school and leave a message on the answer machine, go into the ‘absence’ section on Parentmail or email [email protected]

Extension The builders have made a lot of progress this week and the children continue to be fascinated by the equipment they are using and the processes they are going through.

Rugby Megafest On Thursday Class 4 went to for an event called Rugby Megafest where 13 schools went to do rugby related activities which included bulldog, rugby rounders and tag rugby. We had a lot of fun and we all want to go again! It was so well organized and the people were so nice. By Isaac B and Verity L, Class 4.

Boys Football Yesterday the boy’s football team played against Norbridge Primary School at home. After about 15 minutes William P scored for us. Norbridge had a lot of good chances but Evan Q-B pulled out some good saves that led us to half time. Two minutes into the second half, Reuben T scored to make it 2-0 to Clarborough. Norbridge didn’t give up and scored to make it 2-1. A few minutes later Isaac M smashed one in from the edge of the box and made it 3-1. Two minutes later William P scored his second goal to take it to 4-1. Three more goals followed making the final score 5-3 to Clarborough. Evan Q-B made some great saves and all the boys gave a great performance. By Evan Q-B and Isaac M, Class 5 and 6.
